Medium-resolution echelle spectroscopy of pulsating variables and exoplanet host stars with sub-meter telescopes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Here we present two of our interesting results obtained over the last 18 months from spectroscopic monitoring of binary pulsating stars and exoplanet host stars.

Z‐Scheme Water Splitting Systems Based on Solid‐State Electron Conductors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines the latest advances in Z‐scheme overall water splitting (OWS) systems for solar hydrogen production. These systems consist of suspended or immobilized hydrogen evolution photocatalysts (HEPs) and oxygen evolution photocatalysts (OEPs).

Hidden Binaries in Star-forming Regions

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
A significant fraction of, and possibly all, stars form in binary or multiple systems. For solar-mass stars in the Galactic field, the distribution of orbital separations is log-normal over 7 orders of magnitude, from 10 ^−2  to 10 ^5 au.

Binary stars in the RAVE survey

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
We searched the sample of RAVE survey spectra for both types of spectroscopic binary stars in order to estimate their number in the sample and perform a study on newly discovered binaries.

Physical parameters of 62 eclipsing binary stars using the ASAS-3 data$-$I

open access: yes, 2010
We present a detailed light curve analysis of publicly available V band observations of 62 binary stars, mostly contact binaries, obtained by the All Sky Automated Survey (ASAS)-3 project between 2000 and 2009.

Enhancing Metal‐Support Interactions of Ru Catalysts via Relaxation of Oxygen Vacancies for Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Designing stable Ru nanoparticle catalyst remains a critical challenge in electrochemical applications. Here, a strategy is presented to stabilize Ru catalysts by leveraging Ce‐doped ZrO2 supports (ZrCeO2‐x), which enhance catalyst durability and activity through electronic metal‐support interactions and stabilized oxygen vacancies.

Hidden in Plain Sight: Searching for Dark Companions to Bright Stars with the Large Binocular Telescope and SHARK-VIS

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report the results from a pilot study to search for black holes and other dark companions in binary systems using direct imaging with SHARK-VIS and the iLocater pathfinder “Lili” on the Large Binocular Telescope.

The Close Binary Fraction of Dwarf M Stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We describe a search for close spectroscopic dwarf M star binaries using data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey to address the question of the rate of occurrence of multiplicity in M dwarfs.

Beyond the Beam: Exploring Charged Particle Nanoprinting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Charged particle nanoprinting using electrons and ions is highly advanced, offering great potential for research and industry. However, challenges in precursor design and process optimization persist, but also offer great opportunities to drive nanofabrication innovations.

Binary Analysis and Period Study of the Long-period, High-mass-ratio Contact Binary KIC 7766185

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We present an in-depth photometric and spectroscopic study of the contact binary KIC 7766185. Spectroscopic observations were conducted on the Mayall 4 m telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory and used to extract radial velocities.
