Tsallis and Kaniadakis Gaussian functions applied to the analysis of Diamond Raman spectrum

open access: yes, 2023
Previous studies (Sparavigna, 2023) have demonstrated the Tsallis q-Gaussian functions suitable for the analysis of Raman spectra. Besides the q-Gaussian, another generalized Gaussian form can be investigated for Raman spectroscopy; it is the Kaniadakis κ-Gaussian probability density function, which contains the κ-exponential. Here, we consider both q-

Enhanced discovery of bacterial laccase‐like multicopper oxidase through computer simulation and metagenomic analysis of industrial wastewater

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We obtained potential bacterial laccase‐like multicopper oxidase (LMCO) sequences through metagenomic sequencing. All sequences exhibited significant differences from known LMCOs in databases. To select the most promising candidates, we performed structure prediction and molecular docking using alphafold2, metal3d and rosetta.

Spectrum as the Support of Functional Calculus [PDF]

open access: yesin Functional Analysis and its Applications (V.Kadets et al eds), Elsevier Sci. Publ., 2004, pp.133-142, 2002
We investigate the new definition of analytic functional calculus in the terms of representation theory of SL2(R). We avoid any usage of its algebraic homomorphism property and replace it by the demand to be an intertwining operator. The related notion of spectrum and spectral mapping theorem are given.

Iron‐dependent lysosomal LDL oxidation induces the expression of scavenger receptor A in human THP‐1 monocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In human monocytic cells THP‐1, a limited uptake of native—not oxidized—LDL/VLDL induced expression of scavenger receptor A and cellular adhesion. Induction was inhibited by lysosomotropic (WR‐1065) and lipophilic (BHT) antioxidants and by siRNAs against ferritinophagy.

Spectrums of equivalent Schauder operators [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
Assume that $T_1,T_2$ are equivalent Schauder operators. In this paper, we show that even in this case their Schauder spectrum may be very different in the view of operator theory. In fact, we get that if a self-adjoint Schauder operator $A$ has more than one points in its essential spectrum $\sigma_e(A)$, then there exists a unitary spread operator $U$

The impact of frailty syndrome on skeletal muscle histology: preventive effects of exercise

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Frailty syndrome exacerbates skeletal muscle degeneration via increased ECM deposition and myofiber loss. This study, using a murine model, demonstrates that endurance exercise attenuates these histopathological alterations, preserving muscle integrity. Findings support exercise as a viable strategy to counteract frailty‐induced musculoskeletal decline

Topologically convergent and divergent large scale complex networks among Alzheimer's disease spectrum patients: A systematic review

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is associated with disruption at the level of a large-scale complex network. To explore the underlying mechanisms in the progression of AD, graph theory was used to quantitatively analyze the topological properties of structural ...

Phase Transitions of the Multifractal Spectrum [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
We consider the multifractal analysis of the pointwise dimension for Gibbs measures on countable Markov shifts. Our paper analyses the set of non-analytic points or phase transitions of the multifractal spectrum. By Sarig's thermodynamic formalism for countable Markov shifts and Iommi's expression of the multifractal spectrum, we apply analyticity ...

Development of 4T1 breast cancer mouse model system for preclinical carbonic anhydrase IX studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) is a well‐recognised therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker in cancer. We developed and characterised a robust murine breast cancer model system that is suitable for CAIX studies in vitro and in vivo—it comprises both CAIX‐positive and CAIX‐negative controls and provides a solid platform for the comprehensive ...
