Optimization of Spectrum Utilization in Cooperative Spectrum Sensing

open access: yesSensors, 2019
This paper presents an analytical framework for the probability of spectrum hole utilization (PSHU) of a cognitive radio system with soft cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) under a practical consideration of fixed frame structure. In practical systems, the length of a time-frame is generally fixed, where the time-frame consists of sensing, reporting ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Research of double-threshold spectrum sensing algorithm based on D-S theory

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2013
In view of problem that traditional double-threshold spectrum sensing algorithm cannot make full use of information of sensing users between two thresholds, the paper proposed a double-threshold spectrum sensing algorithm based on D-S theory. When signal

Improvement of energy conservation using blockchain-enabled cognitive wireless networks for smart cities

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
In Smart Cities’ applications, Multi-node cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) can boost spectrum sensing efficiency in cognitive wireless networks (CWN), although there is a non-linear interaction among number of nodes and sensing efficiency.

Cognitive node selection and assignment algorithms for weighted cooperative sensing in radar systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
For the radar spectrum to be shared efficiently a good sensing capability within a secondary cognitive communication system is required. In this paper, the swept radar's rotation mechanism is explored to improve the sensing performance.

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

Sparse Spectrum Sensing in Infrastructure-less Cognitive Radio Networks via Binary Consensus Algorithms

open access: yes, 2016
Compressive Sensing has been utilized in Cognitive Radio Networks (CRNs) to exploit the sparse nature of the occupation of the primary users. Also, distributed spectrum sensing has been proposed to tackle the wireless channel problems, like node or link ...

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...
