Speech Analysis Systems

Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research, 1992
Performance characteristics are reviewed for seven systems marketed for acoustic speech analysis: CSpeech, CSRE, ILS-PC, Kay Elemetrics model 5500 Sona-Graph, MacSpeech Lab II, MSL, and Signalyze. The characteristics reviewed include system components, basic capabilities (signal acquisition, waveform operations, analysis, and other functions ...

Speech Analysis Systems

Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research, 1990
Recently developed, relatively inexpensive systems make digital speech analysis available to many teachers, clinicians, and researchers who have not had access to previous systems. Addressing these prospective users, we survey five microcomputer programs and two dedicated devices for recording, editing, and analyzing speech. We review the capabilities,

A robust speech analysis in speech recognition

WCC 2000 - ICSP 2000. 2000 5th International Conference on Signal Processing Proceedings. 16th World Computer Congress 2000, 2002
This report presents an adaptive speech analysis method specially used for a speech recognition system. The designed speech recognition system consists of an adaptive speech analysis, a self-organized clustering/pseudo-labeling method and a DTW. All methods are redesigned in fully parallel and pipelined mechanism.

Applications of Speech Analysis in Psychiatry

Harvard Review of Psychiatry, 2023
Abstract The need for objective measurement in psychiatry has stimulated interest in alternative indicators of the presence and severity of illness. Speech may offer a source of information that bridges the subjective and objective in the assessment of mental disorders.

Analysis and recognition of whispered speech

Speech Communication, 2005
Abstract In this study, we have examined the acoustic characteristics of whispered speech and addressed some of the issues involved in recognition of whispered speech used for communication over a mobile phone in a noisy environment. The acoustic analysis shows that there is an upward shift of formant frequencies of vowels as observed in the ...

Scale transform in speech analysis

IEEE Transactions on Speech and Audio Processing, 1999
In this paper, we study the scale transform of the spectral-envelope of speech utterances by different speakers. This study is motivated by the hypothesis that the formant frequencies between different speakers are approximately related by a scaling constant for a given vowel.

Acoustic analysis of friendly speech

2004 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2004
To provide acoustic information of affective speech for computer modelling, this study conducted an investigation on the friendly Mandarin Chinese speech. Based on the perceptually classified friendly and neutral speech data, spectral, tonal and durational analyses were conducted at different phonetic levels.

An adaptive speech analysis system

ICASSP '76. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005
The process of speech production is approximated by an autoregressive moving-average process described by a state equation and an observation equation. The state transition matrix that characterizes the autoregressive part is determined to minimize the mean squared error in the estimation of the speech waveform by Kalman filtering.

EEG Analysis of Imagined Speech

International Journal of Rough Sets and Data Analysis, 2016
Scalp electroencephalogram (EEG) is one of the most commonly used methods to acquire EEG data for brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). Worldwide a large number of people suffer from disabilities which impair normal communication. Communication BCIs are an excellent tool which helps the affected patients communicate with others.

Method for speech analysis and speech recognition

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1990
A method of speech analysis calculates one or more difference parameters for each of a sequence of acoustic frames, where each difference parameter is a function of the difference between an acoustic parameter in one frame and an acoustic parameter in a nearby frame.
