Temporal Code and Speech Recognition
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2000The hypothesis that temporal code is mainly responsible for speech recognition is discussed. Data from cochlear implant research demonstrate that single-channel speech processors, supplying only temporal code, enable understanding of spoken language. Physiological findings supporting the observation are presented.
