Rate–Distortion–Perception Optimized Neural Speech Transmission System for High-Fidelity Semantic Communications

open access: yesSensors
We consider the problem of learned speech transmission. Existing methods have exploited joint source–channel coding (JSCC) to encode speech directly to transmitted symbols to improve the robustness over noisy channels.

Multilevel Delta Modulation with Switched First-Order Prediction for Wideband Speech Coding

open access: yesElektronika ir Elektrotechnika, 2018
In this paper a delta modulation speech coding scheme based on the ITU-T G.711 standard and the switched first-order predictor is presented. The forward adaptive scheme is used, where the adaptation to the signal variance is performed on frame-by-frame ...

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Frame erasure concealment method used for wideband embedded speech codec

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2008
An efficient frame erasure concealment(FEC)method for wideband embedded speech codec was proposed. The erased speech frame was classified as voiced, unvoiced, silence, unvoiced transit to voiced and voiced transit to unvoiced at decoder. The energy of ...

Three-Level Delta Modulation with Second-Order Prediction for Gaussian Source Coding

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2018
An adaptive three-level delta modulation with a switched second-order linear prediction is proposed in this paper, intended for encoding the time-varying signals modeled by Gaussian distribution.

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Performance analysis of the network communication based on AMR speech coding by using NS

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2006
Most of the VoIP systems were based on the speech codec with a fixed rate, which maked packet-loss serious, especially for continuous packet-loss.The degradation for the speech quality would be caused by the kind of packet-loss.A network communication ...

Complementarity of Long‐Reads and Optical Mapping in Parkinson's Disease for Structural Variants

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Long‐read sequencing and optical genome mapping technologies have the ability to detect large and complex structural variants. This has led to the discovery of novel pathogenic variants in neurodegenerative movement disorders. Thus, we aimed to systematically compare the SV detection capabilities of OGM and ONT in Parkinson's disease.

The Effect of Narrow-Band Transmission on Recognition of Paralinguistic Information From Human Vocalizations

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2016
Practically, no knowledge exists on the effects of speech coding and recognition for narrow-band transmission of speech signals within certain frequency ranges especially in relation to the recognition of paralinguistic cues in speech.

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe
