Design of Highly Stretchable, Self‐Adhesive Ionic Conductive Hydrogels for Wearable Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
A novel ionic conductive hydrogel is achieved by introducing phytic acid into semi‐interpenetrating cross‐linked network of poly(acrylamide‐co‐N‐(hydroxymethyl) acrylamide) and chitosan hydrogels, which exhibits high stretchability, favorable electrical conductivity, reversible adhesiveness, and excellent strain sensing performance, simultaneously ...

Evaluating Bicarbonate Electrolyzer Configurations for Energy‐Efficient Formate Production

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
Reactive carbon capture (RCC) with bicarbonate electrolyzers (BEs) offers an efficient alternative to gas‐fed CO2 electrolyzers by eliminating regeneration and pressurization steps. This study optimizes BE configurations and compares RCC chains to gas‐fed carbon chains for formate production.

Density of States and Binding Energy Informatics for Exploring Early Disease Detection in MOF‐Metal Oxide Chemiresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, EarlyView.
Binding energy and electronic structure calculations are used to assess the ability of metal–organic framework (MOF)‐TiO2 composite materials to detect volatile organic compounds found in human breath. Electronic structure changes are measured by comparing density of states profiles using Wasserstein distances.

Multi-Scale Temporal Frequency Convolutional Network With Axial Attention for Speech Enhancement

IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2022
Speech quality is often degraded by acoustic echoes, background noise, and reverberation. In this paper, we propose a system consisting of deep learning and signal processing to simultaneously suppress echoes, noise, and reverberation.

CMGAN: Conformer-Based Metric-GAN for Monaural Speech Enhancement

IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio Speech and Language Processing, 2022
In this work, we further develop the conformer-based metric generative adversarial network (CMGAN) model1 for speech enhancement (SE) in the time-frequency (TF) domain.

Speech enhancement for bandlimited speech

Proceedings of the 1998 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, ICASSP '98 (Cat. No.98CH36181), 2002
Throughout the history of telecommunication, speech has rarely been transmitted with its full analog bandwidth (0 to 8 kHz or more) due to limitations in channel bandwidth. This impaired legacy continues with tactical voice communication. The passband of a voice terminal is typically 0 to 4 kHz.

A Nested U-Net With Self-Attention and Dense Connectivity for Monaural Speech Enhancement

IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2022
With the development of deep neural networks, speech enhancement technology has been vastly improved. However, commonly used speech enhancement approaches cannot fully leverage contextual information from different scales, which limits performance ...

Automatic enhancement of speech intelligibility

2000 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37100), 2002
This paper presents a speech signal transformation which slows down speech signals selectively and enhances some important acoustic cues. This transformation can be used not only for hearing aids but also for second language acquisition by facilitating oral comprehension. Selective slowing down relies on the use the TD-PSOLA synthesis method.
