Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

EMD-based method to improve the efficiency of speech/pause segmentation

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений. Поволжский регион:Технические науки, 2021
Background. Speech/pause segmentation is one of the most important tasks in speech applications being accurate detection of the boundaries of the beginning and the end of voiced and unvoiced speech, and pauses.

Insights into L2 connected speech segmentation: A gating experiment with listeners of different English proficiency levels

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Applied Linguistics, 2023
The relative contribution of bottom-up (i.e. acoustic-phonetic) and top-down (i.e. contextual) cues for successful L2 online segmentation is still a matter of debate. This study used the gating paradigm to investigate the segmentation processes of adult

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Real-time speech MRI datasets with corresponding articulator ground-truth segmentations

open access: yesScientific Data, 2023
The use of real-time magnetic resonance imaging (rt-MRI) of speech is increasing in clinical practice and speech science research. Analysis of such images often requires segmentation of articulators and the vocal tract, and the community is turning to ...

An automatic speech segmentation tool based on multiple acoustic parameters

open access: yesChimera, 2016
Speech segmentation is required not only for linguistic research based on oral corpora, but had become essential for natural language processing. Many researchers have developed different approaches to deal with the need of automatic segmentation of ...

A neural joint model for Vietnamese word segmentation, POS tagging and dependency parsing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We propose the first multi-task learning model for joint Vietnamese word segmentation, part-of-speech (POS) tagging and dependency parsing. In particular, our model extends the BIST graph-based dependency parser (Kiperwasser and Goldberg, 2016) with ...

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Comparison of performance of automatic recognizers for stutters in speech trained with event or interval markers

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
IntroductionAutomatic recognition of stutters (ARS) from speech recordings can facilitate objective assessment and intervention for people who stutter. However, the performance of ARS systems may depend on how the speech data are segmented and labelled ...
