Parameter sensitivity of speed estimation in speed sensorless induction motor drives

Proceedings of 4th IEEE International Workshop on Advanced Motion Control - AMC '96 - MIE, 2002
A method for evaluating the sensitivity of speed estimation to parameter variations in inverter motor drives with microprocessor based control is proposed in the paper. By using a full order flux asymptotic observer, the step by step analytical determination of the stator current error is carried out.

Wind speed extreme quantiles estimation

2013 International Conference on Clean Electrical Power (ICCEP), 2013
Wind speed (WS) probability distribution identification and estimation are the object of an increasing number of studies, especially related to the need of wind energy production evaluation. In this framework, the paper highlights the characterization of extreme WS quantiles, whose values and estimates are very sensitive to the assumed distributional ...

Estimating wind speed distribution

Energy Conversion and Management, 2002
The Weibull distribution is used to model wind speeds at four locations in Oman. The scale and shape parameters were estimated using three methods, the Chi-square method, method of moments and regression method. It was observed that the estimates using the Chi-squared method gave the best overall fit to the distribution of the wind data. Both the scale

Speed Estimator for Low Speed PMSM Aerospace Application

2017
The paper is focused on development of low speed PMSM direct drive application. The high resolution of position setting (18 bits per revolution) is demanded at very low speed about 10 RPM. The quantization of speed controller error cause unaccepted torque ripple.

Applications: Skid Marks Estimate Speed

The Mathematics Teacher, 1981
It is common knowledge that the faster a vehicle is going, the greater the distance required to stop after the brakes are applied. Conversely, the greater the braking distance, the faster the car must have been going when the brakes were applied. In the case of accidents, it is often important to estimate the speed from the braking distance.

Fuzzy Estimation of Vehicle Speed

Volume 6: 5th International Conference on Multibody Systems, Nonlinear Dynamics, and Control, Parts A, B, and C, 2005
The absolute longitudinal speed of a vehicle is estimated by using data from an accelerometer of the vehicle and wheel speed sensors of a standard 50-tooth antilock braking system. An intuitive solution to this problem is, “When wheel slip is low, calculate the vehicle velocity from the wheel speeds; when wheel slip is high, calculate the vehicle speed

Sensorlees Speed Estimation. A Review

2019 IEEE 12th International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and Drives (SDEMPED), 2019
In induction motors diagnosis, sensorless speed estimation has become a key factor when it comes to locate fault harmonics. Yet, there are some issues that have not been solved. First, since methods were mainly thought to control purposes, they are intended to provide real time response, which means short data records. In FFT techniques (widely used in

Estimates of speeds of dinosaurs

Nature, 1976
THE faster an animal walks or runs the longer, in general, are its strides. Many dinosaur tracks have been found from which stride lengths can be measured1 .I have now obtained a relationship between speed, stride length and body size from observations of living animals and applied this to dinosaurs to achieve estimates of their speeds.

Speed estimation through mobile sensing

TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2014
With the advances in wireless communication and mobile computing, a future infrastructureless self-organizing traffic information system, where vehicles can form a network for exchanging traffic information among themselves, will soon be realized. In an infrastructureless traffic information system, vehicles will act as mobile sensors and collect the ...

Sea Surface Wind Speed Estimation

2021
One of the most useful applications of GNSS-R is the measurement of speed of sea surface wind, especially the tropical cyclone, Typhoon, or Hurricane. Precise measurement and prediction of these disastrous winds is very important to timely warning and thus to avoiding or reducing the loss of economy and life.
