Strain rate concentration factor in comparison with stress concentration factor of a circumferential notch in a round bar specimen

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
High-speed tensile testing is now being recognized as a standard testing method for evaluating the impact strength of engineering materials. The impact speeds of Izod and Charpy tests cannot be controlled and therefore do not correspond to the real ...

Investigation of the speed-up of a dual microcontroller parallel processing system in the execution of a mathematical operation [PDF]

open access: yes
An investigation of the performance of a two microcontroller parallel processing system is presented. A twomicrocontroller parallel processing is developed using low end microcontrollers (PIC 16F877).

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Speeding up integer multiplication and factorization

open access: yes

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Note on the Interpretation of Convergence Speed in the Dynamic Panel Model [PDF]

open access: yes
Studies using the dynamic panel regression approach have found the speed of income convergence among the world and regional economies to be high. For example, Lee et al. (1997, 1998) report the income convergence speed to be 30% per annum.

Gravity waves in severe weather [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
With a view to determining the role of severe weather in producing gravity waves, two tests were made. In the first, the wind speed measured at two nearby radiosonde stations, Peoria and Salem, was correlated with the stratosphere gravity-wave intensity ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Optimization of Cutting Parameters on Delamination of Drilling Glass-Polyester Composites

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2018
This paper attempted to study the effect of cutting parameters (spindle speed and feed rate) on delamination phenomena during the drilling glass-polyester composites.
