Automatic voltage regulator with fastdynamic speed

IEE Proceedings - Electric Power Applications, 1999
A novel automatic voltage regulator is proposed and analysed. The power circuit is made up of a pulse-width modulated (PWM) buck-boost AC chopper which uses only two standard switch modules. In the AC chopper, the commutation scheme allows dead-time to avoid current spikes from switching and at the same time establishes a current path in the inductor ...

Speed Regulation of Kaplan Turbines

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1941
Abstract In this paper hydraulic-turbine speed-regulation data are presented and compared with calculated performance. Field tests made at the Bonneville and Guntersville power plants are cited. The effect of air admission during load rejection is discussed. Runaway-speed tests in the field are compared with model data.

Experiences in System Speed Regulation

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1940
Abstract This paper describes operating conditions on four widely varying power systems. In one case, the means, adopted to reduce the wide variation in frequency of a small system serving two mines only, is discussed. The problems encountered in larger systems serving mines, paper mills, grain elevators, and municipal requirements are ...

Regulator Characteristics: A Conparision of Two Speed Regulations

IEEE Transactions on Industry and General Applications, 1971
The importance of the transient characteristics of analog regulators used on paper machine drives is shown. The speed regulator was chosen as a model since it is the regulator that is most often used. Two different forms of speed regulators were used to demonstrate the differences between different forms of regulators with comments on these differences.

Motor speed regulation using neural networks

[Proceedings] IECON '90: 16th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2002
An investigation is conducted of the use of the back-propagation neural network for motion control and speed regulation in industrial servo systems. The goal is to build an intelligent controller or regulator which has a versatility equivalent to that possessed by a human operator. The advantages of neural nets lie in that they are flexible in terms of
