Novel biomimetic actuator based on SPEEK and PVDF

Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, 2009
In this study, a novel electro-active polymer based on a blended polymer membrane of sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (i.e., SPEEK) and poly(vinylidene fluoride) (i.e., PVDF) is newly developed for the realization of a cost-effective and high-performing polymer actuator with controllable stiffness and ionic networking.

Mesoscale Simulation on the Hydrated Morphologies of SPEEK Membrane

Macromolecular Theory and Simulations, 2021
AbstractProton transport in proton exchange membrane is considered to depend on the hydrophilic domain formed by the microphase separation between hydrophobic and hydrophilic segments of the membrane. Therefore, the study of hydrated morphologies is crucial to understand proton transport.

Mixed conductive blends of SPEEK/PANI

Solid State Ionics, 2005
Abstract Membranes were obtained by solvent evaporation from 70% sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) and polyaniline in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone [NMP] or N,N-dimethyl formamide [DMF]. SPEEK/PANI membranes were studied by UV–Vis spectroscopy, ion-exchange capacity, ionic and electronic conductivity and thermal properties, in order to observe the SPEEK ...

Hybrid SPEEK/Phosphonatedsilsesquioxanes membranes for PEMFC

Nanomaterials and Energy, 2012
In this work, the production and characterization of hybrid membranes of sulfonated poly(ether-ether-ketone; SPEEK) and phosphonated copolysilsesquioxanes (PCs) and its application in proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) were studied. To improve the proton conduction and thermal stability of the polymer SPEEK, PCs were synthesized from ...

Tensile mechanical properties of sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) and BPO4/SPEEK membranes

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2005
AbstractA study to evaluate the tensile mechanical properties of sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) and BPO4/SPEEK composite membranes has been carried out. It is aimed to give an assessment of these materials for applications in proton exchange membrane fuel cells.

Hydration Behaviour of Sufonated Polyetheretherketone (SPEEK) Membranes

Key Engineering Materials, 2018
Polymer electrolyte membranes (PEM) have a potential to become power sources in automotive industry and other household applications. PEM such as sulfonated polyetheretherketone (SPEEK) have acceptable operating temperature range but proton conductivity is dependent on amount of sulfonic groups attached to the polymer backbone (degree of sulfonation ...

Effect of TEOS Additive as Proton Exchange Membrane on SPEEK-PVA and SPEEK-PVA-Boric Acid Blend Membranes

2023

SPEEK-based Composite Membranes for Direct Methanol Fuel Cells

MRS Proceedings, 2008
AbstractSulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK)-based composite membranes doped with 23 and 50 wt% of hydrated tin oxide (SnO2·nH2O) were prepared and characterized for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) applications . The composite membranes were characterized in terms of ion exchange capacity (IEC), tensile tests, water uptake measurements ...

Biofilm behavior on sulfonated poly(ether-ether-ketone) (sPEEK)

Materials Science and Engineering: C, 2017
Poly(ether-ether-ketone) (PEEK) has also shown to be very attractive for incorporating therapeutic compounds thanks to a sulfonation process which modifies the material structure resulting in a sulfonated-PEEK (sPEEK). Concerning biomedical applications, the objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of different sulfonation degree of sPEEK ...

Amine Grafted Silica/SPEEK Nanocomposites as Proton Exchange Membranes

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2010
This work presents the elaboration of porous silica nanospheres, eventually amine functionalized, which are used as the inorganic filler in mixed matrix silica/SPEEK membranes. The surface of the silica nanoparticles is modified by grafting (3-aminopropyl)dimethylethoxysilane (APDMS).
