Validation of Computational Software for Criticality Safety Analysis of Spent Nuclear Fuel Systems

open access: yesJournal of Nuclear Engineering
During the operation of nuclear power plants, nuclear fuel undergoes significant compositional changes. After several cycles of use, the fuel must be removed and stored.

Mathematical Model of Separation of Transplutonium and Rare Earth Elements by Ion-Exchange Chromatography Method with Complexation During Elution

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2016
Spent nuclear fuel contains precious and highly radioactive metals, such as plutonium, americium, curium, europium. Closed nuclear fuel cycle technology allows to distinguish these elements from spent nuclear fuel. Americium and curium are very expensive

Asymmetric Electrostrain/Electrobending in Piezoelectric Ceramics: Role of Defect Dipoles or Oxygen Vacancies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Defect‐configurational origins of the asymmetric apparent electrostrain are revealed in different piezoelectric ceramics via atomic‐scale visualization of defect configurations. Migration of oxygen vacancies leads to the electrobending effect in N2‐sintered BaTiO3, while defect dipoles in Ba0.99TiO2.99 generate true asymmetric electrostrain without ...

REVIEW OF SPENT FUEL INTEGRITY EVALUATION FOR DRY STORAGE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Among the several options to solve PWR spent fuel accumulation problem in Korea, the dry storage method could be the most realistic and applicable solution in the near future. As the basic objectives of dry storage are to prevent a gross rupture of spent

Sulfated Cyclocarya Paliurus Polysaccharide Sorchestrates the Gut Microbiome to Mobilize a Host‐Derived 12‐HEPE Against Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A sulfated polysaccharide (SCP) from Cyclocarya paliurus alleviates ulcerative colitis by reshaping the gut microbiome. This remodeled microbiota orchestrates the upregulation of the host‐derived lipid 12‐HEPE, which directly inhibits the TLR4/NF‐κB pathway to suppress inflammation.
