Influence of staining and sampling procedures on goat sperm morphometry using the Sperm Class Analyzer

Theriogenology, 2006
Computer-assisted sperm morphometry analysis (ASMA) has improved the assessment of sperm morphology, but the results depend on the use of adequate sampling and staining procedures of spermatozoa from individual species. In this study, the Sperm Class Analyzer ASMA system was used for the morphometric analysis of goat sperm heads.

Evolutionary sperm morphology and morphometry in armadillos.

Journal of submicroscopic cytology and pathology, 1998
Little is known about the evolution of vertebrate spermatozoa. In most eutherian taxa a high degree of uniformity in sperm shapes and dimensions among species was observed. The aim of this work is to trace a possible evolutionary change in sperm morphology and morphometry in dasypodids.

Light microscopic features and morphometry of sperm in the emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae)

Theriogenology, 2014
A comprehensive morphologic description of emu sperm at the light microscopy level, an essential prerequisite for the routine evaluation of semen quality in this species, is not currently available. In this study, sperm morphology and morphometry were evaluated using conventionally prepared Romanowsky-stained semen smears of samples collected from the ...

The effect of selected staining techniques on stallion sperm morphometry

Livestock Science, 2015
A problem in evaluating the morphology and morphometry of sperm is the lack of standardization of staining techniques. The method of staining and evaluating specimens can significantly affect the results of morphometric measurements. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of two techniques for staining stallion sperm on the morphology and ...

Diallylphthalate causes alterations in sperm count and morphometry in the rat

2023
A fourteen-day study was undertaken to assess the effects of diallylphthalate on sperm count and morphometry (head area and tail lengths) of the rat (Fischer-344). Four groups of rats (n = 7) approximately 13 weeks of age were treated (daily oral gavage) with diallylphthalate with corn oil as the vehicle at 0, 37.5, 75.0, and 150.0 mg/kg/day with a ...

The effects of repeated freezing and thawing on bovine sperm morphometry and function

Cryobiology
Refreezing the remaining genetic resources after in vitro fertilization (IVF) can conserve genetic materials. However, the precise damage inflicted by repeated freezing and thawing on bovine sperm and its underlying mechanism remain largely unexplored. Thus, this study investigates the impact of repeated freeze-thaw cycles on sperm.
