Scrotal Hirudiniasis: The Mysterious Migration of a Leech Into the Scrotum: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Hirudiniasis, or leech infestation, is a rare parasitic condition typically involving external skin or mucosal surfaces. We report a case of scrotal hirudiniasis, an 11 cm long leech discovered within the scrotal sac of a 15‐year‐old male.

The Thoracic Lymphatic Vasculature: Interorgan Strategies to Achieve an Optimal Tissue Function

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 2, April 2026.
In the thorax, organ‐specific features such as stomata and submesothelial lacunae, pulmonary perivascular and peribronchial vessels, and subepicardial lymphatic network allow the thoracic lymphatics to perform as a dynamically regulated system able to exploit local mechanical forces and tissue‐specific architecture to maintain fluid and solute ...

Bottom‐Up Ice Growth Geometry Attenuates Shear Stress and Improves the Cryopreservation of Hematopoietic Stem/Progenitor Cells Under Low DMSO Concentrations

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 3, Page 582-597, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Studies on cell cryopreservation have been limited by the complexity of the freezing process and challenges on controlling ice formation, managing cooling rates, and optimizing cryoprotectant concentrations. The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of bottom‐up and conventional radial freezing on the viability of mammalian cells ...

AMHR2 mutation in persistent Müllerian duct syndrome: A case of transverse testicular ectopia

open access: yesUroPrecision, Volume 4, Issue 1, Page 64-68, March 2026.
Abstract Backgroud Persistent Müllerian duct syndrome (PMDS) is a rare condition characterized by the persistence of Müllerian duct structures in genotypic and phenotypic males. Case Presentation We present the case of a 4‐month‐old male with PMDS who presented with transverse testicular ectopia. The patient underwent diagnostic laparoscopic orchiopexy

Testicular mass frozen section examination: Pathological insights and diagnostic accuracy

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 88, Issue 4, Page 843-853, March 2026.
Frozen section examination on testicular excisional biopsy is accurate and can help avoid unnecessary radical orchidectomy. A very high concordance rate between frozen section diagnosis and permanent diagnosis was obtained with no false negatives.

A case of testicular infarction in the newborn [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
A 6-day-old male was pointed out to have right intrascrotal swelling at birth. Surgical exploration did not reveal torsion of the spermatic cord. The testicle was suspected to have a malignant tumor and then right inguinal orchiectomy was performed ...

Personalized Models of Biological Barriers and Their Diseases: Recent Progress with Organs‐On‐Chips

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 10, Issue 2, February 2026.
Buck and Bugter et al. explore the architectural diversity and physiological functions of human barrier systems and reveal how organ‐on‐chip platforms, particularly those integrating patient‐derived cells, are advancing barrier disease modeling. They highlight how emerging biological and technological advances can be used to bridge the gap between ...
