ABSTRACT The aim of the study was to determine whether rabbit eggs’attract’ homologous spermatozoa in vivo. Preliminary experiments showed that, in vitro, rabbit spermatozoa readily and irreversibly attach to the zonae of rat eggs.

Many efforts have been made in the past to obtain a “toxic” antiserum against sperm cells washed free of seminal plasma. Heterologous, homologous, and even autologous sensitization using rabbits, bulls, guinea pigs, and mice, have all been claimed to be successful (Metchnikoff, 1900; Guyer, 1922; Kennedy, 1924).
