Assessing the Relationship Between Macroinvertebrate Metrics and Fine Sediment Index for Ecological Biomonitoring in the Little Akaki River, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
Habitat quality had a positive correlation with percentage of Ephemeroptera, percentage of EOT, and Shannon diversity index (r = 0.833, r = 0.880, and r = 0.939, respectively). PSI had positive correlation with number of taxa, and ASPT‐ETHbios (r = 0.819, and r = 0.798, respectively). Most sites were heavily sedimented.

Testing the Optimal Foraging Theory in a Generalist Feeder: The Case of Reintroduced European Pond Turtles and Its Impact on Macroinvertebrates Communities. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
In this study we investigated the macroinvertebrate (MI) communities in two newly created, man‐made ponds concurrently with the diet of captive‐bred European pond turtles that were translocated there. We aimed at assessing whether turtles were operating as generalist feeders, and if successive reintroductions of turtles would affect the overall MI ...

The fingernail clams (Bivalvia: Veneroida: Sphaeriidae) of Morocco: Diversity, distribution and conservation status. [PDF]

open access: yesBiodivers Data J, 2021
In Morocco, many uncertainties surround the current diversity and distribution of the bivalve family Sphaeriidae. Such information, including taxonomy and conservation status, are vital for further studies to improve the knowledge of this family in Morocco and represents the first step towards the development of a national conservation plan for all ...

Postglacial Echoes: Parasite Genomics Uncover Environmental Changes in Postglacial European Lakes. [PDF]

open access: yesMol Ecol
ABSTRACT Postglacial environmental changes have influenced biodiversity and species evolution, yet the genomic and demographic responses of parasites remain underexplored. This study investigates the population genetics and demographic history of the flatworm Phyllodistomum umblae, a generalist trematode at the definitive host level infecting Coregonus

Distribution, abundance, population structures, and potential impacts of the invasive snail, Tarebia granifera in aquatic ecosystems of north-eastern South Africa. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
The study investigates Tarebia granifera, a highly successful aquatic invader, in South Africa's Limpopo and Phongolo River systems. The study revealed that T. granifera dominates in habitats where it is present, negatively impacting native molluscan species. Interestingly, the study did not find significant correlations between T.

BIVALVE MOLLUSCS (BIVALVIA: UNIONIDAE, DREISSENIDAE, SPHAERIIDAE) OF UDMURTIA

open access: yesBulletin of Udmurt University. Series Biology. Earth Sciences, 2021
The results of the studies of fauna of bivalve molluscs of Udmurt Republic are summarized. The annotated check-list of species of bivalve molluscs of the waterbodies of Udmurtiya is presented. After examination of own collections and critical assessment of published data, 26 species of bivalves from 74 localities (14 rivers, 2 reservoirs, 8 pounds and ...
