On the sphalerite geobarometer.

open access: goldGEOCHEMICAL JOURNAL, 1988
Even though the sphalerite geobarometer enjoys wide support as a very reliable parameter which gives pressure values consistent with the pressures obtained by different silicates equilibrium, thermodynamically the internal consistency of its experimental data may be questioned. The pressure read from the geobarometer should be regarded tentatively.

Influence of the Interaction between Sphalerite and Pyrite on the Copper Activation of Sphalerite [PDF]

open access: goldMinerals, 2018
In this paper, the effect of pyrite on the activation of sphalerite was investigated by micro-flotation, copper adsorption experiments, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and electrochemical measurement. The micro-flotation test results showed that the recovery and flotation rate of sphalerite with copper sulphate as activator and butyl xanthate ...

Electrochemical insights into the direct dissolution of impure sphalerites and their partial oxidation in an acidic environment [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study examined the electrodissolution mechanism of five impure sphalerite samples, which differ significantly in purity levels, along with their partially oxidized counterparts in a 0.5 M H2SO4.

Effect of Magnesium on the Hydrophobicity of Sphalerite [PDF]

open access: goldMinerals, 2021
The use of untreated recycled water has negative effects in the flotation of zinc sulfide ores due to the presence of dissolved species, such as magnesium and calcium. Although it has been found that magnesium is a more potent depressant than calcium, it has not been investigated in this role or for the effect of adding sodium carbonate. The results of

Trace element signatures of sphalerite in the Sichuan Daliangzi Ge-rich Pb-Zn deposit and its implications for deep ore prospecting [PDF]

open access: goldFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
The Daliangzi Pb-Zn deposit is one of the typical Ge-rich Pb-Zn deposits in the Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou Pb-Zn polymetallic metallogenic triangle area (SYGT), with its Pb, Zn, and Cd reserves reaching the scale of a large-sized deposit and its Ge reserve ...

Molecular Design and Mechanism Study of Non-Activated Collectors for Sphalerite (ZnS) Based on Coordination Chemistry Theory and Quantum Chemical Simulation [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules
Sphalerite flotation is generally achieved by copper activation followed by xanthate collection. This study aims to propose a design idea to find novel collectors from the perspective of molecular design and prove the theoretical feasibility that the ...

Oxidative Dissolution Process of Sphalerite in Fe2(SO4)3-O3 System: Implications for Heavy Metals Removal and Recovery [PDF]

open access: yesToxics
Metal sulfides in waste rocks and tailings are susceptible to serious soil and water contamination due to the generation of acid mine drainage (AMD) during stockpiling.

A TEM investigation of optical variations in sphalerite. [PDF]

open access: yesMineralogical Magazine, 1987
Sphalerites from the Force Crag Pb-Zn vein, N England, show darker coloured zones found not only to be richer in Cu, Fe, Sb, Ag and Pb but also to contain precipitates of tetrahedrite-like composition. Sphalerites from Silvermines, Ireland, also showed trace-element enriched colour banding but were devoid of precipitates.

GEOCHEMICAL FEATURES OF SULFIDES OF THE AKTASH MAGNETITE-POLYMETALLIC DEPOSIT, WESTERN KARAMAZAR, TAJIKISTAN (LA-ICP-MS DATA) [PDF]

open access: yesМинералогия, 2023
The distribution of trace elements in sulfides from various ores of the Aktash magnetitepolymetallic deposit (Tajikistan) is studied using LA-ICP-MS method. Sulfides partly replace banded magnetite ores.

Flotation of Seafloor Massive Sulfide Ores: Combination of Surface Cleaning and Deactivation of Lead-Activated Sphalerite to Improve the Separation Efficiency of Chalcopyrite and Sphalerite

open access: yesMetals, 2021
The purpose of this study is to propose the flotation procedure of seafloor massive sulfide (SMS) ores to separate chalcopyrite and galena as froth and sphalerite, pyrite, and other gangue minerals as tailings, which is currently facing difficulties due ...
