An Investigation of Sphalerite
Geologiska Föreningen i Stockholm Förhandlingar, 1958Abstract A polished section of a sphalerite ore specimen from the Sturemalmen sulphide deposit has been analysed for iron content, as well manganese and cadmium content by means of an electron probe micro-analyser. This instrument is capable of analysing surface areas of 1–2 μ2.

Abstract The intensive grinding of sphalerite or sphalerite-pyrite mixtures accelerates the extraction of zinc from sphalerite by the bacteria Thiobacillus ferrooxidans and as a consequence shorten the process of bacterial leaching. This grinding affects the solid-state properties of the sulphides.

Sphalerite/silica interactions: model predictions
International Journal of Mineral Processing, 2002Abstract An experimental study has shown that the sphalerite/silica system can heterocoagulate despite both minerals having a negative zeta-potential [DiFeo et al., 2001]. Using the model of Hogg et al. 1966 for interaction by constant potential, the interaction energy is shown to decrease between particles of like signs when the zeta-potential of ...

New collectors for sphalerite flotation
International Journal of Mineral Processing, 2006Abstract A series of N -arylhydroxamic acids (31) were synthesized and tested as collectors to float sphalerite from a Canadian copper–zinc ore. The compounds were classified into four types namely, N -aryl- C -alkyl, N -aryl- C -aryl, N -aryl- C -aralkyl, and dihydroxamic acids based on the type of substitution.

Copper activation studies with sphalerite
Canadian Metallurgical Quarterly, 1972AbstractThe flotation of sphalerite under different conditions of activation and flotation has been invesygated and the mechanism of activation was found to be very dependent on the pH value. The flotation procedure adopted and the adsorption measurements seem to suggest that in alkaline solutions the activation goes through the precipitation of copper ...

Economic Geology, 1940
New spectrographic analyses and previously published information provided data concerning elements present in sphalerite in minor amounts. The variation in minor element content is correlated with the type of mineral deposit in which the sphalerite occurs.

Sphalerite-wurtzite equilibria and stoichiometry
Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 1972Abstract Evidence from natural occurrences and from published syntheses indicates that the sphalerite-wurtzite inversion is not an invariant reaction at 1020°C, 1 atm but is a univariant function of fs2 and temperature. Single crystals of zinc sulfide, grown in aqueous NaOH solutions which were selected to control fs2, have shown that a univariant ...

Coupling leaching of sphalerite concentrate
Minerals Engineering, 2005Abstract Studies on coupling process of sphalerite concentrate leaching in H 2 SO 4 –HNO 3 and tetrachloroethylene extracting of sulfur were reported. Mechanism of coupling leaching and effects of adding amounts of C 2 Cl 4 , temperature and liquid-to-solid ratio on leaching process were investigated separately.
