An Investigation of Sphalerite
Geologiska Föreningen i Stockholm Förhandlingar, 1958Abstract A polished section of a sphalerite ore specimen from the Sturemalmen sulphide deposit has been analysed for iron content, as well manganese and cadmium content by means of an electron probe micro-analyser. This instrument is capable of analysing surface areas of 1–2 μ2.

Sphalerite Framework in Polar Sulfides [PDF]
The basic sphalerite framework has been revealed in complex sulfide minerals: galkhaite, stalderite, aktashite and other sulfide compounds. It has been shown that the noncentrosymmetric sphalerite framework is very stringent and robust in reference to the cation type, cluster formations and the presence of vacancy.

Effects of salinity on xanthate adsorption on sphalerite and bubble–sphalerite interactions
Minerals Engineering, 2015Abstract The adsorption of amyl xanthate on sphalerite in NaCl solutions of different concentrations and in saline water (viz. simulated sea water) and the surface properties of treated minerals were investigated. The interactions between xanthate treated sphalerite particles and air bubbles were examined using induction time measurement, which ...

The mechanism of copper activation of sphalerite
Applied Surface Science, 1999Abstract On the basis of recent SIMS and XAFS measurements in conjunction with already published XPS results, a mechanism for the adsorption/absorption of Cu onto sphalerite is proposed. Under conditions of high pH and high nominal surface coverage of the sphalerite by the Cu, Cu(OH)2 colloidal particles are observed on the sphalerite surfaces using ...

Compositional zoning in sphalerite crystals
American Mineralogist, 2005A series of natural sphalerite samples, characterized by an inhomogeneous (zonal) distribution of Fe, Mn, and Cd atoms substituting for Zn, has been investigated by electron probe microanalysis and X-ray element distribution mapping. The cation distributions are markedly inhomogeneous due to the reciprocal effects of the minor elements on their ...

Copper activation studies with sphalerite
Canadian Metallurgical Quarterly, 1972AbstractThe flotation of sphalerite under different conditions of activation and flotation has been invesygated and the mechanism of activation was found to be very dependent on the pH value. The flotation procedure adopted and the adsorption measurements seem to suggest that in alkaline solutions the activation goes through the precipitation of copper ...

New collectors for sphalerite flotation
International Journal of Mineral Processing, 2006Abstract A series of N -arylhydroxamic acids (31) were synthesized and tested as collectors to float sphalerite from a Canadian copper–zinc ore. The compounds were classified into four types namely, N -aryl- C -alkyl, N -aryl- C -aryl, N -aryl- C -aralkyl, and dihydroxamic acids based on the type of substitution.
