Noncommutative Gauge Theory on Fuzzy Four-Sphere and Matrix Model
We study a noncommutative gauge theory on a fuzzy four-sphere. The idea is to use a matrix model with a fifth-rank Chern-Simons term and to expand matrices around the fuzzy four-sphere which corresponds to a classical solution of this model.

The Seiberg-Witten Map on the Fuzzy Sphere [PDF]
We construct covariant coordinate transformations on the fuzzy sphere and utilize these to construct a covariant map from a gauge theory on the fuzzy sphere to a gauge theory on the ordinary sphere.

Identical hard spheres in cylindrical confinement exhibit a rich variety of densest-packed columnar structures. Such structures, which generally vary with the corresponding cylinder-to-sphere diameter ratio D, serve as structural models for a variety of ...

Attenuation of the wake of a sphere in an intense incident turbulence with large length scales [PDF]
We report an investigation of the wake of a sphere immersed in a uniform turbulent flow for sphere Reynolds numbers ranging from 100 to 1000. An original experimental setup has been designed to generate a uniform flow convecting an isotropic turbulence ...

Study on Parameter Choice Methods for the RFMP with Respect to Downward Continuation
Recently, the regularized functional matching pursuit (RFMP) was introduced as a greedy algorithm for linear ill-posed inverse problems. This algorithm incorporates the Tikhonov-Phillips regularization which implies the necessity of a parameter choice ...

Statistical characterization of the forces on spheres in an upflow of air [PDF]
The dynamics of a sphere fluidized in a nearly-levitating upflow of air were previously found to be identical to those of a Brownian particle in a two-dimensional harmonic trap, consistent with a Langevin equation [Ojha {\it et al.}, Nature {\bf 427 ...

Area of the Intersection between a Sphere and a Cylindrical Plane
A proper understanding of the porous structure of packed beds of spheres is imperative in the analysis and design of the processes involving fluid flow and heat and mass transfer. The radial variation in porosity is of specific interest.

The SPHERE data center: a reference for high contrast imaging processing [PDF]
The objective of the SPHERE Data Center is to optimize the scientific return of SPHERE at the VLT, by providing optimized reduction procedures, services to users and publicly available reduced data. This paper describes our motivation, the implementation
