P‐glycoprotein modulates the fluidity gradient of the plasma membrane of multidrug resistant CHO cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
To explore the impact of the overexpression of the multidrug‐transporter P‐glycoprotein (ABCB1) on membrane fluidity, we compared the transversal gradient of mobility and microviscosity in plasma membranes of drug‐sensitive Chinese hamster ovary cells (AuxB1) and their multidrug‐resistant derivatives (B30) using the fluorescent n‐(9‐anthroyloxy) fatty ...

Implanting bismuth in color-tunable emitting microspheres of (Y, Tb, Eu)BO3 to generate excitation-dependent and greatly enhanced luminescence for anti-counterfeiting applications

open access: yesJournal of Asian Ceramic Societies, 2020
To prevent counterfeiting, a lot of advanced security technologies have been developed, including luminescent printing. Therefore, the pigments with advanced security features are urgently pursued for luminescence printing-based anti-counterfeiting ...

Covering spheres with spheres [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Computational Geometry, vol. 38, pp. 665--679, 2007, 2006
Given a sphere of any radius $r$ in an $n$-dimensional Euclidean space, we study the coverings of this sphere with solid spheres of radius one. Our goal is to design a covering of the lowest covering density, which defines the average number of solid spheres covering a point in a bigger sphere. For a growing dimension $n,$ we design a covering that has

A coiled‐coil domain triggers oligomerization of MmpL10, the mycobacterial transporter of trehalose polyphleate precursor

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Most MmpLs transport lipids and glycolipids of the complex mycomembrane of mycobacteria. This study shows that MmpL10 from Mycobacterium smegmatis, the transporter of the trehalose polyphosphate precursor, harbors a coiled‐coil‐like extension. Biochemical and electron microscopy studies demonstrate that the coiled‐coil enables MmpL10 to trimerize.

Precipitation Evolution over Belgium by 2100 and Sensitivity to Convective Schemes Using the Regional Climate Model MAR

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2019
The first aim of this study is to determine if changes in precipitation and more specifically in convective precipitation are projected in a warmer climate over Belgium.

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Using 14 Years of Satellite Data to Describe the Hydrodynamic Circulation of the Patras and Corinth Gulfs

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
In the absence of in situ data, remote sensing becomes one of the most effective methods for analyzing the hydrodynamics of a basin. In the Gulf of Corinth, the lack of in situ information was addressed using 14 years of satellite data from the ...

Disruption of SETD3‐mediated histidine‐73 methylation by the BWCFF‐associated β‐actin G74S mutation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The β‐actin G74S mutation causes altered interaction of actin with SETD3, reducing histidine‐73 methylation efficiency and forming two distinct actin variants. The variable ratio of these variants across cell types and developmental stages contributes to tissue‐specific phenotypical changes. This imbalance may impair actin dynamics and mechanosensitive
