Laplacians on spheres [PDF]

open access: yesSão Paulo Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2018
Spheres can be written as homogeneous spaces $G/H$ for compact Lie groups in a small number of ways. In each case, the decomposition of $L^2(G/H)$ into irreducible representations of $G$ contains interesting information. We recall these decompositions, and see what they can reveal about the analogous problem for noncompact real forms of $G$ and $H$.

Quantum isometries and noncommutative spheres [PDF]

open access: yesComm. Math. Phys. 298 (2010), 343-356, 2009
We introduce and study two new examples of noncommutative spheres: the half-liberated sphere, and the free sphere. Together with the usual sphere, these two spheres have the property that the corresponding quantum isometry group is "easy", in the representation theory sense. We present as well some general comments on the axiomatization problem, and on

Rotationally invariant constant mean curvature surfaces in homogeneous 3-manifolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We classify constant mean curvature surfaces invariant by a 1-parameter group of isometries in the Berger spheres and in the special linear group Sl(2, R).

The Classification of Branched Willmore Spheres in the 3-Sphere and the 4-Sphere

open access: yesAnnales scientifiques de l'École Normale Supérieure, 2022
We extend the classification of Robert Bryant of Willmore spheres in $S^3$ to variational branched Willmore spheres $S^3$ and show that they are inverse stereographic projections of complete minimal surfaces with finite total curvature in $\mathbb{R}^3$ and vanishing flux. We also obtain a classification of variational branched Willmore spheres in $S^4$

Coherent states on spheres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We describe a family of coherent states and an associated resolution of the identity for a quantum particle whose classical configuration space is the d-dimensional sphere S^d.

Soliton spheres [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 2011
Soliton spheres are immersed 2–spheres in the conformal 4–sphereS4=HP1S^4=\mathbb {HP}^1that allow rational, conformal parametrizationsf:CP1→HP1f\colon \mathbb {CP}^1\rightarrow \mathbb {HP}^1obtained via twistor projection and dualization from rational curves inCP2n+1\mathbb {CP}^{2n+1}.

The proximity force approximation for the Casimir energy of plate-sphere and sphere-sphere systems in the presence of one extra compactified universal dimension [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Theoretical Physics 54(2015)2623, 2013
The Casimir energies for plate-sphere system and sphere-sphere system under PFA in the presence of one extra compactified universal dimension are analyzed. We find that the Casimir energy between a plate and a sphere in the case of sphere-based PFA is divergent.

Sensitivity to Convective Schemes on Precipitation Simulated by the Regional Climate Model MAR over Belgium (1987–2017)

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2019
The aim of this study is to assess the sensitivity of convective precipitation modelled by the regional climate model MAR (Modèle Atmosphérique Régional) over 1987–2017 to four newly implemented convective schemes: the Bechtold
