Generalized geoidal estimators for deterministic modifications of spherical Stokes’ function

open access: yesContributions to Geophysics and Geodesy, 2010
Stokes’ integral, representing a surface integral from the product of terrestrial gravity data and spherical Stokes’ function, is the theoretical basis for the modelling of the local geoid.

Low-Order Spherical Harmonic HRTF Restoration Using a Neural Network Approach

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Spherical harmonic (SH) interpolation is a commonly used method to spatially up-sample sparse head related transfer function (HRTF) datasets to denser HRTF datasets.

Constraining GRACE-derived cryosphere-attributed signal to irregularly shaped ice-covered areas [PDF]

open access: yesThe Cryosphere, 2013
We use a Monte Carlo approach to invert a spherical harmonic representation of cryosphere-attributed mass change in order to infer the most likely underlying mass changes within irregularly shaped ice-covered areas at nominal 26 km resolution.

Remarks on the mean-square values of the geomagnetic field and its components

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 1995
When considering functions on the Earth's (spherical) surface, mean-square values are often used to indicate their (relative) magnitude. If a function is separated into it, (essentially) spherical harmonic components then, provided these individual ...

Visualization research of the spherical harmonic function and atomic orbital based on MATLAB software

open access: yes四川大学学报. 自然科学版, 2020
The spherical harmonic function is the angular part of the form solution of the spherical coordinate system of the Laplace equation. It is widely used in classical field theory, quantum mechanics and other fields.

A New Model of Jupiter's Magnetic Field From Juno's First Nine Orbits

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2018
A spherical harmonic model of the magnetic field of Jupiter is obtained from vector magnetic field observations acquired by the Juno spacecraft during its first nine polar orbits about the planet.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Global High-Resolution Magnetic Field Inversion Using Spherical Harmonic Representation of Tesseroids as Individual Sources

open access: yesGeosciences, 2020
In this study, we present a novel approach combining the advantages of tesseroids in representing geophysical structures though their voxel-like discretization features with a spherical harmonic representation of the magnetic field.

A novel GNSS precise point positioning method based on spherical harmonic expansion

open access: yesAll Earth, 2023
The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) precise point positioning (PPP) from carrier-phase data is influenced by complex elements. The error sources are divided into two categories according to their relation to the signal propagation path.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an
