Advances in 3D Bioprinting for Breast Cancer Modeling: Tumor Microenvironment, Metastasis, and Drug Screening

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Three‐dimensional bioprinting transforms breast cancer modeling from simple constructs into spatially organized, multicellular, perfused, and patient‐derived platforms. This review shows how bioinks, cellular composition, architecture, and flow govern tumor behavior and drug response, while revealing why complexity alone is insufficient without ...

Optimal designs for 3D shape analysis with spherical harmonic descriptors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We determine optimal designs for some regression models which are frequently used for describing 3D shapes. These models are based on a Fourier expansion of a function defined on the unit sphere in terms of spherical harmonic basis functions.

Numerical Analysis of Boring Bar Vibration Response in Internal Turning with Spherical Mass–Rubber Dynamic Vibration Absorber (MR-DVA)

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
Vibration control in boring processes is essential to ensure machining accuracy and stability. This study analyzed the vibration response of a boring bar fitted with a combination of three pairs of spherical Mass–Rubber Dynamic Vibration Absorbers (MR ...

Unified Linear Stability Analysis for Thermal Convections in Spherical Shells Under Different Boundary Conditions and Heating Modes

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, 2019
Layered interior structure of most planets may be well approximated by spherical shells. An important subject for analyzing planet thermal structure and evolution is to determine the transitional condition from heat conduction dominated mechanism to ...

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.

Topology of Platonic Spherical Manifolds: From Homotopy to Harmonic Analysis

open access: yes, 2015
We carry out the harmonic analysis on four Platonic spherical three-manifolds with different topologies. Starting out from the homotopies (Everitt 2004), we convert them into deck operations, acting on the simply connected three-sphere as the cover, and ...

A 100-degree lithospheric magnetic field model constructed using MSS-1, Swarm-A, and CHAMP satellite data

open access: yesEarth and Planetary Physics
By combining data from the Challenging Minisatellite Payload (CHAMP), Swarm-A, and newest Macau Science Satellite-1 (MSS-1) missions, we constructed a lithospheric magnetic field model up to spherical harmonic degree N = 100.

Light Analysis of Paintings at Scale Using Spherical Harmonics

open access: yesElectronic Imaging
Light is abstract. Light is difficult to describe with words. Unlike other pictorial motifs such as perspective, light depiction eludes fixed rules and defies straightforward measurement. This study presents a preliminary step towards measuring light information from paintings at scale.
