The Complete Control for the Nanosize of Spherical MCM-41

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2012
In this work, we present a systematic study on the complete control over the sphere diameters of MCM-41 nanospheres with different pore sizes. The mesoporous silica nanospheres with diameter range from 40 nm to 160 nm are synthesized by using cationic quaternary ammonium surfactants as template and TEOS as silicon source in sodium hydroxide aqueous ...

Buckling of a Complete Spherical Shell Under Uniform External Pressure

Studies in Applied Mathematics, 1978
Axisymmetric buckling of a complete spherical shell under uniform external pressure is treated by the spectral method. Among other results the lower critical pressures of 7% and 5% of classical linear buckling pressures are computed for radius‐thickness ratios of 100 and 200 respectively.

Trapping and completeness of a spherical light-cone

General Relativity and Gravitation, 1993
This article concerns an outgoing spherically symmetric light-cone evolving according to the Einstein equations. The relevant equations are solved explicitly as integrals of the Mailing matter, which is unspecified apart from energy conditions and a consistency condition.

Dynamic elastic and plastic buckling of complete spherical shells

International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1974
Abstract A theoretical investigation is undertaken into the dynamic instability of complete spherical shells which are loaded impulsively and made from either linear elastic or elastic-plastic materials. It is shown that certain harmonics grow quickly and cause a shell to exhibit a wrinkled shape which is characterized by a critical mode number.

The axisymmetric buckling of initially imperfect complete spherical shells

International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1969
Abstract Starting out from recent experimental results according to which thin-walled spherical shells subjected to a uniform external pressure deform in an axisymmetric mode at the beginning of the buckling process, the buckling and the postbuckling behavior of complete spherical shells were investigated under the assumption that both the ...

The Elastic Instability of a Complete Spherical Shell

Aeronautical Quarterly, 1962
SummaryThe elastic instability of a complete spherical shell under uniform external pressure is studied experimentally and theoretically. The premature snapping of a thin elastic shell, made of polyvinyl chloride, is seen to be classical in nature.
