Airborne Environmental DNA for Moth Monitoring: Effectiveness, Challenges, and Complementarity With Traditional Methods

Airborne eDNA metabarcoding captured broad patterns of moth diversity and detected species missed by light traps, but failed to reflect abundance and recovered fewer species overall. Airborne eDNA shows promise as a complementary, non‐invasive tool for Lepidopteran monitoring, though methodological refinement remains essential.

Cryptic Vocal Communication in the Proboscis Bat (Rhynchonycteris naso)

Proboscis bats (Rhynchonycteris naso) balance communication and crypsis through distinct vocal strategies. Naturally selected calls are high‐frequency, short‐range, and produced during motion, reducing predator detection. In contrast, sexually selected signals are more conspicuous.
