Measures of niche overlap are important tools in various ecological and evolutionary studies. Here we create and apply a multispecies overlap metric to both simulated and empirical communities, illustrating how this methodology may capture interactions and structure of niche space in ways that traditional, pairwise metrics overlook.

Relationship between colouration and body condition in a crab spider that lures pollinators [PDF]
Sit-and-wait predators have evolved several traits that increase the probability of encountering prey, including lures that attract prey. Although most crab spiders (Thomisidae) are known by their ability to change colour in order to match the background,

Beyond Extrafloral Nectaries: Plant Traits as Drivers of Spider Occurrence in the Cerrado
ABSTRACT Patterns of predator occurrence arise from a mosaic of plant‐derived cues, yet most studies address these traits in isolation. Although extrafloral nectaries have received considerable attention, we lack a comprehensive view of how multiple plant traits jointly affect the diversity and abundance of spiders.

Update of the risk assessment on dioxins and dioxin‐like PCBs in feed and food
Abstract The European Commission asked EFSA to update its 2018 risk assessment on polychlorinated dibenzo‐p‐dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs) and dioxin‐like polychlorinated biphenyls (DL‐PCBs) in feed and food, based on the 2022 WHO Toxic Equivalency Factors (WHO2022‐TEFs).

The spiny spider crab, Samadinia pulchra (Miers in Tizard, Moseley, Buchanan & Murray, 1885) (type locality: Bohol Sea, Philippines) has long been considered to be widespread in the western Pacific and Indian Ocean, with Anamathia livermorii Wood-Mason ...

Ineffective crypsis in a crab spider: a prey community perspective
Cryptic coloration is assumed to be beneficial to predators because of an increased encounter rate with unwary prey. This hypothesis is, however, very rarely, if ever, studied in the field.
