In Colletotrichum acutatum species complex, conserved ring‐cleavage dioxygenases located adjacent to AA5_2 enzymes were investigated as potential redox partners. Biochemical analyses identified the dioxygenases as intradiol‐cleaving enzymes preferentially oxidizing methyl‐substituted catechols, while AA5_2 enzymes displayed weak alcohol oxidase ...

ABSTRACT Methyl salicylate (MeSA) is an herbivore‐induced plant volatile (HIPV) known to attract natural enemies of herbivores; however, its effectiveness as a semiochemical across diverse cropping systems and broad geographic regions remains unclear. In this 2‐year field study, we sampled natural enemies using MeSA‐baited and unbaited (control) yellow

ABSTRACT The use of alternative food has become an integral component of biocontrol, allowing the introduction and establishment of predators into a crop before pest invasion and sustaining populations even when pest densities are low. The addition of alternative food also has a positive long‐term effect in decreasing the densities of the pest.

Plant responses to spider mite oviposition.
Plants are sessile organisms permanently exposed to a combination of abiotic and biotic stresses. Therefore, their survival depends on their capacity to adapt to the myriad of events that they face constantly. Among them, arthropod herbivory has a heavy cost on plant biology, and on agricultural systems millions of euros are lost every year due to pest

Becoming Dostoevsky (how Rowan Williams opens up Bakhtin)
Abstract With the end of Communism in Russia, non‐materialist contexts were enthusiastically restored to Mikhail Bakhtin's globally famous ideas of carnival, dialogism, and polyphony. This essay surveys Rowan Williams's 2008 study Dostoevsky: Language, Faith + Fiction as a major contribution to this effort, concentrating on those general philosophical ...
