Reduced abundance of insects and spiders linked to radiation at Chernobyl 20 years after the accident [PDF]
Effects of low-level radiation on abundance of animals are poorly known. We conducted standardized point counts and line transects of bumble-bees, butterflies, grasshoppers, dragonflies and spider webs at forest sites around Chernobyl differing in background radiation by over four orders of magnitude.

Evidence of the Most Stretchable Egg Sac Silk Stalk, of the European Spider of the Year Meta menardi
Spider silks display generally strong mechanical properties, even if differences between species and within the same species can be observed. While many different types of silks have been tested, the mechanical properties of stalks of silk taken from the egg sac of the cave spider Meta menardi have not yet been analyzed.

Ground spider communities in experimentally disturbed Mediterranean woodland habitats [PDF]

The ride of the parasite: a 100-million-year old mantis lacewing larva captured while mounting its spider host [PDF]
Adult mantis lacewings, neuropteran holometabolan insects of the group Mantispidae, possess anterior walking legs transformed into prey-catching grasping appendages reminiscent of those of praying mantises. While adult mantis lacewings are hence active "wait-and-catch" predators, the larvae of many mantis lacewings have a quite different biology: first-
