Hierarchical mask creation for intelligent image coding using saliency maps
In this paper we analyze basic mask creation methods for intelligent image coding using saliency maps. For saliency maps based image coding we use specific extension of SPIHT algorithm called SM SPIHT related to region of interest encoding but extending ...

Medically Relevant Criteria used in EEG Compression for Improved Post-Compression Seizure Detection
Biomedical signals aid in the diagnosis of different disorders and abnormalities. When targeting lossy compression of such signals, the medically relevant information that lies within the data should maintain its accuracy and thus its reliability.

EEG Compression of Scalp Recordings based on Dipole Fitting
A novel technique for Electroencephalogram (EEG) compression is proposed in this article. This technique models the intrinsic dependency inherent between the different EEG channels.

Exploiting Prior Knowledge in Compressed Sensing Wireless ECG Systems
Recent results in telecardiology show that compressed sensing (CS) is a promising tool to lower energy consumption in wireless body area networks for electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring. However, the performance of current CS-based algorithms, in terms of

Partial Encryption on SPIHT Compressed Images [PDF]
Recently, Multimedia security paradigm has shifted towards encryption techniques combined with compression systems to meet the constraints of wireless networks. Several techniques of encryption with compression have been proposed to reduce processing time, but either they are insecure or computationally intensive.

CDRWF: Compressed Domain Based Robust Watermarking Framework for Colored Images
Image watermarking in the compressed domain is a highly significant research problem. The work proposed in this paper addresses the dual challenge of optimizing image compression for storage conservation and simultaneously implementing robust image watermarking for copyright protection.

UAVs are widely used but have limited storage and bandwidth issues, so we propose ROIE‐UC, an image compression algorithm for UAV communication. ROIE‐UC uses SLIC and DBSCAN to segment images into ROI and non‐ROI, applying lossless and high‐ratio lossy compression, respectively, and is decompressed at the receiving end.

Multiresolution source coding using entropy constrained dithered scalar quantization [PDF]
In this paper, we build multiresolution source codes using entropy constrained dithered scalar quantizers. We demonstrate that for n-dimensional random vectors, dithering followed by uniform scalar quantization and then by entropy coding achieves ...
