Selection for Spikelet Fertility in a Semidwarf Durum Wheat Population1

Crop Science, 1986
Genetic variability for spikelet fertility is present in durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. var. durum). Divergent selection for spikelet fertility was practiced in a semidwarf durum population derived from a single cross of parents that differ for number of kernels/spikelet to determine the effect of indirect selection for this yield component on grain

Rice SIZ1, a SUMO E3 ligase, controls spikelet fertility through regulation of anther dehiscence

New Phytologist, 2010
• Sumoylation, a post-translational modification, has important functions in both animals and plants. However, the biological function of the SUMO E3 ligase, SIZ1, in rice (Oryza sativa) is still under investigation. • In this study, we employed two different genetic approaches, the use of siz1 T-DNA mutant and SIZ1-RNAi transgenic plants, to ...

Vascular system of the fertile spikelet of Sorghum (Gramineae: Panicoideae)

Canadian Journal of Botany, 1991
The vascular system of the sessile, fertile spikelet of Sorghum was reconstructed from serial transverse sections. The vascular system is a composite of the basipetal extensions of the traces from the appendages on the rachilla. The rachilla immediately above the glumes consists of an outer and an inner series of these vascular extensions.

[Progress in decoding the impact of abiotic stress on spikelet fertility in rice].

Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2018
Recent research progress in the impact of abiotic stress on florets sterility was summarized in this review to reveal key processes in determining the floret sterility resulted from abiotic stress and their coherent connections. The spikelet fertility was mainly determined by four key processes, including behavior of tapetum, anther dehiscence and ...

Temperature Difference Between the Air and Organs of Rice Plant and Its Relation to Spikelet Fertility

Agricultural Sciences in China, 2008
Based on the experiment of measuring panicles and leaves, air temperature, and humidity above the canopy of rice cultivars after heading in 2005 and 2006, we investigated the temperature difference (TD) between the air and organs of rice plant and its relationship with spikelet fertility.

[Correlation of intersubspecific hybrid rice spikelet fertilization rate with temperature and related statistic model].

Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2006
Using four types of rice, i. e., indica-japonica hybrid, intermediate hybrid, indica and japonica cultivars as test materials, this paper studied the sensitivity of intersubspecific hybrid rice to climatic factors, and the correlations between spikelet fertilization rate (SFR) and daily meteorological factors during 2000 and 2001.

Nitrogen fertilizer and foliar application of cytokinin affect spikelet and floret set and survival in oat

Field Crops Research, 1997
Abstract Yield potential of oat is only partly realized and both formation and expression of yield potential are largely environment dependent. This study was designed to monitor the possibilities for and efficacy of foliar applications of a synthetic cytokinin growth promotor (benzyl-aminopurine, BA) to enhance formation and realization of yield ...
