A review of fish response to spillways
Juveniles from most fish taxa will pass downstream, over or through spillways, if outlet flow is sufficient. Fish passing over relatively high spillways may be injured by rapid pressure changes, rapid deceleration, shearing forces, turbulence, abrasion ...

The hydraulics of flow on stepped ogee-profile spillways.
Because of its simple form, its effectiveness as an energy dissipator, and its contribution to dam stability, the stepped spillway is one of the oldest drop structure used in the construction of small dams.

Keeping Pace or Falling Behind? The Depth of Latin American Trade Agreements
ABSTRACT This article examines whether Latin American countries are keeping pace with global trends in trade agreement depth or falling behind. Using 681 agreements (1970–2019), we develop the Depth Index of Trade Agreements (DITA) to weight provisions endogenously through factor analysis based on co‐occurrence patterns.

Stepped spillway with pre-aeration by a deflector: flow characteristics
Stepped spillways aim to dissipate part of the upstream energy during the flow passage by the chute. However, the use of these structures is limited to a restrict range of specific discharges due to the risk of cavitation damage.

Stepped Spillways: Technical Advance from 1900 [PDF]
Stepped spillways are currently a standard design in hydraulic engineering. Whereas these spillways were hardly employed until the advent to the Roller-Compacted Concrete (RCC) Technology in the 1980s, they were of particular interest from the 1990s for ...

Foreign labor, peer‐networking and agricultural efficiency in the Italian dairy sector
Abstract While the presence of immigrants in the agricultural sector is widely acknowledged, the empirical evidence on its economic consequences is lacking, especially from a microeconomic perspective. Using the Farm Accountancy Data Network panel data for Italian dairy farms in the period 2008–2018, the present study investigates the relationship ...

Analysis of hydraulic parameters in determining the occurrence of cavitation in the spillways of the Furnas, Luiz Carlos Barreto de Carvalho and Batalha hydroelectric power plants [PDF]
The hydrodynamic conditions to which hydraulic structures such as spillways and stilling basins of dams are submitted under given conditions favor the occurrence of cavitation, damaging the concrete surfaces.
