Complex Aerodynamics Behavior of High Spin APFSDS Projectile
The supersonic aerodynamics of a high spin armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot projectile (APFSDS) is numerically and experimentally investigated. Classically, using a 120 mm smooth bore gun, the value of the nondimensional steady spin rate of the inflight APFSDS projectile is about 0.01.

Longitudinal Aerodynamics of a Canard Guided Spin Stabilized Projectile
Navier–Stokes simulation is performed on a canard guided spinning projectile for different attack angles and circumferential position angles of canard over the Mach number range of 1.8–2.2. The computational Magnus moment coefficients of test case are validated with available experimental data of a Secant-Ogive-Cylinder-Boattail (SOCBT) configuration ...

Subsonic Aerodynamics of Spinning and Non-Spinning Type 200 Lightcraft: Progress Report
A combined experimental and numerical investigation of subsonic aerodynamics for Type 200 laser lightcraft is underway for both spinning and non‐spinning cases. A 12.2 cm diameter aluminum model with a “closed” annular airbreathing inlet was fitted to a sting balance in RPI’s 61 cm by 61 cm subsonic wind tunnel.

Laminar separation bubble in a spinning ball aerodynamics
We explore the flow past a spinning smooth ball at Re=1×105 for the spin factor range 0≤α≤1 using large eddy simulation (LES). When a spinning ball passes through a uniform flow field, an asymmetrical boundary-layer separation occurs along the retreating and advancing sides of the ball.

Aerodynamics and Design of Spinning Samara Model
2021A particular form of winged seed (samara) dispersal technique adopted by nature uses autorotative (unpowered rotation of the wing generating thrust force against gravity) descent; for e.g. in Maple and Mahagony trees. This technique provides the lowest descent velocities among various seed dispersal techniques found in nature ensuring the safety of the

Aerodynamic and flight dynamic interaction in spin
Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 2019PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to describe an integrated approach to spin analysis based on 6-DOF (degrees of freedom) fully nonlinear equations of motion and a three-dimensional multigrid Euler method used to specify a flow model. Another purpose of this study is to investigate military trainer performance during a developed phase of a ...

Aerodynamics of a Spinning Sphere
The Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society, 1928The full equations of motion for the flow of a viscous fluid have proved too complicated for any general solution to be obtained. It is to be doubted if, in. the near future, the problem of fluid motion will be solved in a general manner, although solutions for a few special cases may be found.
