Fabrication of Poly (Trans-3-(3-Pyridyl)Acrylic Acid)/Multi—Walled Carbon Nanotubes Membrane for Electrochemically Simultaneously Detecting Catechol and Hydroquinone

open access: yesMembranes, 2023
Herein, conductive polymer membrane with excellent performance was successfully fabricated by integrating carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and poly (trans-3-(3-pyridyl) acrylic acid) (PPAA) film. The drop-casting method was employed to

Spin-Mediated Consciousness Theory: An Approach Based On Pan-Protopsychism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
As an alternative to our original dualistic approach, we present here our spin-mediated consciousness theory based on pan-protopsychism. We postulate that consciousness is intrinsically connected to quantum mechanical spin since said spin is embedded in ...

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

Overhauser enhanced liquid state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy in one and two dimensions

open access: yesNature Communications
Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is fundamental in the natural sciences, from chemical analysis and structural biology, to medicine and physics. Despite its enormous achievements, one of its most severe limitations is the low sensitivity, which arises ...

Quantum Information Processing in the Radical-Pair Mechanism: Haberkorn theory violates the Ozawa entropy bound

open access: yes, 2017
Radical-ion-pair reactions, central for understanding the avian magnetic compass and spin transport in photosynthetic reaction centers, were recently shown to be a fruitful paradigm of the new synthesis of quantum information science with biological ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Crystal structure and physical properties of the new AcNi6Si6 compounds (Ac: Th, U)

open access: yesJournal of Alloys and Metallurgical Systems
The crystal structure of the new ternary ThNi6Si6 and UNi6Si6 intermetallic compounds has been investigated by means of both single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction followed by Rietveld refinement.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Enhancing CO2 Hydrogenation to Methane by Ni-Based Catalyst with V Species Using 3D-mesoporous KIT-6 as Support

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Using renewable H2 for CO2 hydrogenation to methane not only achieves CO2 utilization, but also mitigates the greenhouse effect. In this work, several Ni-based catalysts with V species using 3D-mesoporous KIT-6 (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and ...
