Spin Recovery Spin-orbit interactions present in many semiconductors are used to manipulate the spin of an electron in spin-based electronics. However, this same interaction is also responsible for the loss of information contained in a spin when it changes its direction during the scattering off of impurities ...

Nonresonant Multiple Spin Echoes
Science, 2002Nonresonant manipulation of nuclear spins can probe large volumes of sample situated in inhomogeneous fields outside a magnet, a geometry suitable for mobile sensors for the inspection of roads, buildings, and geological formations. However, the interference by Earth's magnetic field causes rapid decay of the signal within a few milliseconds for ...

The neutron multiwave interference mode is investigated using the spin echo technique. In this mode a neutron wave repeatedly splits in the magnetic field of resonance coils, which results in the appearance of additional maxima of a constructive interference being absent in the well-known classical and resonance neutron spin echo modes.
