Spin waves in a spin glass

Journal of Physics F: Metal Physics, 1981
It is shown that, in an isotropic three-dimensional spin glass with an axial anisotropy energy, three spin wave branches exist in the limit k to O. The two transverse branches have an identical gap in this limit while the longitudinal branch does not. The transverse branches are split by an external static field.

Theory of spin glasses

Journal of Physics F: Metal Physics, 1975
A new theory of the class of dilute magnetic alloys, called the spin glasses, is proposed which offers a simple explanation of the cusp found experimentally in the susceptibility. The argument is that because the interaction between the spins dissolved in the matrix oscillates in sign according to distance, there will be no mean ferro- or ...

Spin Glass Theory

1987
A spin glass is a disordered magnet: in a typical example 50% of the bonds (randomly chosen) between two spins are ferromagnetic while the others are antiferromagnetic. From the experimental point of view(1) spin glasses are characterized by the presence of a low temperature phase in which the relaxation time toward equilibrium is very large (as in ...

Spin Glasses and Complexity

2013
Spin glasses are disordered magnetic systems that have led to the development of mathematical tools with an array of real-world applications, from airline scheduling to neural networks. This book offers the most concise, engaging, and accessible introduction to the subject, fully explaining what spin glasses are, why they are important, and how they ...

Spin glasses

1900
The phase of condensed matter known as spin glasses has become a vital and productive area of research. Historically, experiment has suggested unusual effects which have brought the theoretical study of the spin Glass Problem Onto The Same Footing As The Experimental Study.
