Spin-labelled human platelets

Thrombosis Research, 1976
Abstract Human platelets were labelled with a variety of lipophilic and thiol reagent spin probes. Aggregation was not affected by the lipid probes but was blocked by the covalent protein-directed probes. ESR spectra before and after thrombin treatment indicated that lipid structure of the platelet membrane was not affected to any measurable extent ...

Spin-labelled nucleic acids

Quarterly Reviews of Biophysics, 1981
The spin label method developed by McConnell 15 years ago is now widely used in studies of the structure and dynamic properties of a variety of the biological systems such as proteins and protein complexes, lipids and membranes, nucleic acids, nucleoproteins, etc.The ESR spectrum of the nitroxide radcal – the spin label – is very sensitive to its ...

Spin-labeled yeast cells

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1972
Summary The facultative yeast cells have been spin-labeled biosynthetically with the 12-nitroxide stearic acid label under aerobic as well as anaerobic conditions. ESR spectra of the aerobic cells were different from those of the anaerobic cells. The signal intensity of the aerobic cells decreased upon removal of oxygen from the culture.

Electron Spin Resonance: Spin Labels

1981
In general biological membranes possess no intrinsic paramagnetism and hence in the unlabeled state do not give rise to an electron spin resonance (ESR) spectrum. The introduction of a stable free radical (“spin label”) thus enables one to use ESR spectroscopy to study specific environments within the membrane.

Biosynthesis of spin-labeled peptidoglycan: spin-spin interactions

Biochemistry, 1977
Membrane preparations from Gaffkya homari catalyzed the in vitro biosynthesis of soluble uncross-linked spin-labeled peptidoglycan, a uniformly labeled polynitroxide, from the spin-labeled nucleotide UDP-MurNAc-Ala-DGlu-Lys(Nepsilon-2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-1-pyrrolin-1-oxyl-3-carbonyl)-DAla-DAla (I) and UDP-GlcNAc.

Acceleration‐selective arterial spin labeling

Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, 2013
In this study, a new arterial spin labeling (ASL) method with spatially nonselective labeling is introduced, based on the acceleration of flowing spins, which is able to image brain perfusion with minimal contamination from venous signal. This method is termed acceleration‐selective ASL (AccASL) and resembles velocity‐selective ASL (VSASL), with the ...
