Intermolecular Interactions as Driving Force of Increasing Multiphoton Absorption in a Perylene Diimide‐Based Coordination Polymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study uncovers the unexplored role of intermolecular interactions in multiphoton absorption in coordination polymers. By analyzing [Zn2tpda(DMA)2(DMF)0.3], it shows how the electronic coupling of the chromophores and confinement in the MOF enhance two‐and three‐photon absorption.

Theoretical investigation of the applicability of the Meservey–Tedrow technique to the surface states of topological insulators

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2019
The spin polarization of topological surface states is of high interest for possible applications in spintronics. At present, the only technique capable to measure the surface state spin texture is spin and angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy ...

Radial Spin Helix in Two-Dimensional Electron Systems with Rashba Spin-Orbit Coupling

open access: yes, 2010
We suggest a long-lived spin polarization structure, a radial spin helix, and study its relaxation dynamics. For this purpose, starting with a simple and physically clear consideration of spin transport, we derive a system of equations for spin ...

Kinetic theory of spin-polarized systems in electric and magnetic fields with spin-orbit coupling: II. RPA response functions and collective modes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The spin and density response functions in the random phase approximation (RPA) are derived by linearizing the kinetic equation including a magnetic field, the spin-orbit coupling, and mean fields with respect to an external electric field.

Spin-Polarized Antiferromagnetic Metals

open access: yesAnnual Review of Condensed Matter Physics
Spin-polarized antiferromagnets have recently gained significant interest because they combine the advantages of both ferromagnets (spin polarization) and antiferromagnets (absence of net magnetization) for spintronics applications. In particular, spin-polarized antiferromagnetic metals can be useful as active spintronics materials because of their ...

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

A method for measuring the spin polarization of 129Xe by using an atomic magnetometer

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2017
We propose a method for the precise determination of nuclear spin polarization, based on the atomic magnetometers, which employs the effective magnetic field produced by the spin polarization of 129Xe nuclei.

Speedup of nuclear spin diffusion in hyperpolarized solids

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2021
We propose a correction to the coefficient of nuclear spin diffusion by a factor $1/\sqrt{1-{\bar{p}}^{2}}$ , where $\bar{p}$ is the average nuclear spin polarization.

Spin Hall effect in clean two dimensional electron gases with Rashba spin-orbit coupling

open access: yes, 2005
We study the spin polarization induced by a current flow in clean two dimensional electron gases with Rashba spin-orbit coupling. This geometric effect originates from special properties of the electron's scattering at the edges of the sample.

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...
