Detection of spin bias in four-terminal quantum-dot ring
In this work, we show that in a four-quantum-dot ring, via introducing a local Rashba spin-orbit interaction the spin bias in the transverse terminals can be detected by observing the charge currents in the longitudinal probes.

Gapless fermionic excitation in the antiferromagnetic state of ytterbium zigzag chain
The emergence of charge-neutral fermionic excitations in magnetic systems is one of the unresolved issues in recent condensed matter physics. This type of excitations has been observed in various systems, such as low-dimensional quantum spin liquids ...

Bose-Einstein Condensates as a Probe for Lorentz Violation
The effects of small Lorentz-violating terms on Bose-Einstein condensates are analyzed. We find that there are changes to the phase and shape of the ground-state wave function that vary with the orientation of the trap.

Simulation vs. reality: a comparison of in silico distance predictions with DEER and FRET measurements. [PDF]
Site specific incorporation of molecular probes such as fluorescent- and nitroxide spin-labels into biomolecules, and subsequent analysis by Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) and double electron-electron resonance (DEER) can elucidate the distance

Electric field control of interaction between magnons and quantum spin defects
Hybrid systems coupling quantum spin defects (QSD) and magnons can enable unique spintronic device functionalities and probes for magnetism. Here, we add electric field control of magnon-QSD coupling to such systems by integrating ferromagnet ...

Direct electronic measurement of the spin Hall effect
The generation, manipulation and detection of spin-polarized electrons in nanostructures define the main challenges of spin-based electronics[1]. Amongst the different approaches for spin generation and manipulation, spin-orbit coupling, which couples ...

Full Bulk Spin Polarization and Intrinsic Tunnel Barriers at the Surface of Layered Manganites [PDF]
Transmission of information using the spin of the electron as well as its charge requires a high degree of spin polarization at surfaces. At surfaces however this degree of polarization can be quenched by competing interactions.
