Spin-Crossover in a New Iron(II)/Di(pyrazolyl)pyridine Complex with a Terpyridine Embrace Lattice. Thermally Induced Excited Spin State Trapping and Clarification of a Structure–Function Correlation

open access: yes
The complex salts [FeL2]X2 (1X2; L = 2,6-di{4-fluoropyrazol-1-yl}pyridine; X– = BF4– or ClO4–) exhibit abrupt spin-transitions with narrow thermal hysteresis, at T1/2 = 164 K (X– = BF4–) and 148 K (X– = ClO4–).

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

Toward high-fidelity coherent electron spin transport in a GaAs double quantum dot

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
In this paper, we investigate how to achieve high-fidelity electron spin transport in a GaAs double quantum dot. Our study examines fidelity loss in spin transport from multiple perspectives.

Variable Stiffness Flexure Structures Enabled by Phase‐Change Gallium and Adhesive Interfacial Locking for Soft Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A flexure‐based variable stiffness structure is developed by integrating phase‐change modulation and adhesive interfacial locking of gallium. The design enables a wide stiffness variability, transitioning from soft, flexible behavior to rigid, load‐supporting performance.

Kinetic equation, spin hydrodynamics and collisional depolarization rate in a spin-polarized plasma

open access: yes, 1988
On the basis of our previous work, a rigorous kinetic equation for a spin-polarized plasma is derived in the weak-coupling quasi-classical limit. The macroscopic polarization vector is defined in a unified form for spin-5 and spin-1 particles.

Near‐Field Electrospinning Micro‐Printhead Achieves Precise Control of Nanofiber Deposition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A micro‐printhead for near‐field electrospinning enables reproducible deposition of polymer nanofibers with diameters below 50 nm. Systematic parameter studies uncover the mechanisms linking operating conditions to fiber morphology, paving the way for precise and low‐cost nanoscale 3D manufacturing. As a high‐resolution, cost‐effective, and rapid ...

Neutron and Muon Studies of Spin Dynamics in Magnetic Systems

open access: yes
In this thesis I present an investigation on the spin dynamics observed during moment localisation, non-ergodic magnetic phase transitions, and weak itinerant electron magnetism.

Spin relaxation rate for baryons in a thermal pion gas [PDF]

open access: yes
We study the relaxation dynamics of the spin polarization of baryons (nucleon and Λ baryon), in a thermal pion gas as a simple model of the hadronic phase of the QCD plasma produced in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. For this purpose, we formulate the
