Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Spin decoherence and manipulation in quantum dots : the role of the spin-orbit interaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Solid state based quantum information processing is focused on physical implementation of all necessary elements of quantum computation and quantum information in solid state systems, mainly due to their scalability compared to e.g.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

MODELS OF SPIN TORQUE USING SELF-CONSISTENT SOLUTIONS OF THE MAGNETISATION AND SPIN ACCUMULATION [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A model of spin accumulation (m) is proposed to develop theoretical approaches to calculate the m in any arbitrary magnetic structure. The model is based on generalising the approach of Zhang, Levy and Fert (PRL 88, 236601, 2002).

Spin-relaxation anisotropy in a nanowire quantum dot with strong spin-orbit coupling

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
We study the impacts of the magnetic field direction on the spin-manipulation and the spin-relaxation in a one-dimensional quantum dot with strong spin-orbit coupling.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Spin transition rates in nanowire superlattices: Rashba spin–orbit coupling effects [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2013
We investigate the influence of Rashba spin-orbit coupling in a parabolic nanowire modulated by longitudinal periodic potential. The modulation potential can be obtained from realistically grown supperlattices (SLs). Our study shows that the Rashba spin-orbit interaction induces the level crossing point in the parabolic nanowire SLs.
