Biomaterial Strategies for Targeted Intracellular Delivery to Phagocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Phagocytes are essential to a functional immune system, and their behavior defines disease outcomes. Engineered particles offer a strategic opportunity to target phagocytes, harnessing inflammatory modulation in disease. By tuning features like size, shape, and surface, these systems can modulate immune responses and improve targeted treatment for a ...

3D‐Printed Scaffolds Promote Enhanced Spinal Organoid Formation for Use in Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
3D‐printed organoid scaffolds with microscale channels are developed to enhance spinal cord injury recovery by guiding region‐specific spinal neural progenitor cells. These scaffolds promote axonal growth, cell maturation, and neuronal network formation.

Effect of oral tizanidine on prolongation of intrathecal lidocaine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Objective: In order to prolong the duration of intrathecal lidocaine, various drugs are used along with it. Due to the promising effects of tizanidine on central nervous system, it can be assumed that tizanidine can have a positive effect on increasing

A Novel Sprayable Fibrinogen/Glycosaminoglycans/Collagen‐Based Bioink for Skin Wound Healing Applied by a Handheld Dual‐Head Airbrush

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐head airbrush‐based spraying device, combined with a fibrinogen bioink enriched with glycosaminoglycans and collagen, enables the delivery of biomaterials and cells to promote wound healing. This system demonstrates effective skin regeneration in vitro and in vivo, with comparable results to autografts.

Comparison of the effect of spinal anesthesia and general anesthesia on 5-year tumor recurrence rates after transurethral resection of bladder tumors

open access: yesOncoTarget, 2017
Non-muscle invasive bladder tumors are early-stage tumors with high recurrence rates. Transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURB) is performed under spinal or general anesthesia; however, the effect of the two anesthetic techniques on non-muscle ...

Case Report: Hemorrhage into an Occult Spinal Ependymoma after Epidural Anesthesia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Epidural anesthesia is a procedure which is well tolerated and has a low incidence of adverse events. In performing caesarean sections, regional anesthesia (spinal or epidural) is the preferred modality for anesthetic delivery.

The homuncular jigsaw: investigations of phantom limb and body awareness following brachial plexus block or avulsion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Many neuropsychological theories agree that the brain maintains a relatively persistent representation of one's own body, as indicated by vivid "phantom" experiences.

A Targeted Redox‐Active Dual‐Action Pt(IV)‐Mn(II) Prodrug Displays Enhanced In Vivo Anticancer Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A new oxaliplatin‐based Pt(IV) prodrug bearing a Mn(II) superoxide dismutase mimic is synthesized and studied, in vitro and in vivo, in the context of colorectal cancer. Encapsulation of this prodrug in an easy‐to‐implement PEGylated micelle formulation demonstrated the highest in vivo anticancer activity among all the tested conditions, supporting the
