Evaluation of diffusion time–dependent changes in radial diffusivity as a surrogate for axon diameter

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To experimentally evaluate the change in radial diffusivity with diffusion time (∆D⊥$$ \Delta {\mathrm{D}}_{\perp } $$) as a simple estimate of axon diameter. Methods Ex vivo ferret spinal cords were imaged via MRI and scanning electron microscopy.

Multipoint Stimulation Motor Unit Number Estimation of the Extensor Indicis and Anconeus After Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims Cervical spinal cord injury (SCI) significantly impairs upper limb function, affecting patients' quality of life. Nerve transfer surgery can restore arm and hand function, but its success depends on the health of infralesional lower motor neurons (LMNs).

Investigating the Mechanism of Conditioning Versus Postoperative Electrical Stimulation to Enhance Nerve Regeneration: One Therapy, Two Distinct Effects

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Regeneration after peripheral nerve injury is often insufficient for functional recovery. Postoperative electrical stimulation (PES) following injury and repair significantly improves clinical outcomes; recently, conditioning electrical stimulation (CES), delivered before nerve injury, has been introduced as a candidate for clinical ...

β3‐Adrenoceptor Agonist Effects on the Urinary Bladder Beyond Detrusor Relaxation

open access: yesNeurourology and Urodynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims β3‐Adrenoceptor agonists such as mirabegron or vibegron reach pharmacokinetic steady‐state within a few days. However, maximum improvements in symptoms of the overactive bladder syndrome are reached at time points later than 4 weeks, that is, detrusor smooth muscle relaxation cannot fully explain clinical effects.

Bladder Diary Feasibility and Reliability in Neurogenic Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction Patients

open access: yesNeurourology and Urodynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Bladder diary (BD) is an important tool to understand patients' lower urinary tract symptoms. But few data exist on adult neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (ANLUTD) patients. The aim was to assess in real‐life practice the feasibility, reliability and influencing factors of BD completion in patients with ANLUTD.
