Patterning the Void: Combining L‐Systems with Archimedean Tessellations as a Perspective for Tissue Engineering Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel multi‐scale scaffold design using L‐fractals arranged in Archimedean tessellations for tissue regeneration. Despite similar porosity, tiles display vastly different tensile responses (1–100 MPa) and deformation modes. In vitro experiments with hMSCs show geometry‐dependent growth and activity. Over 55 000 tile combinations

The Effect of Ankle Dorsiflexion on Sagittal Posture and Core Muscle Activation

open access: yesBiomechanics
Maintaining proper posture is essential for preventing musculoskeletal disorders and reducing injury risks. This study investigates the impact of insoles with ankle dorsiflexion (inverted drop sole) on sagittal posture, spinal curvatures, and core muscle

Effects of 8-months yoga training on shaping the spine in people over 55

open access: yesBiomedical Human Kinetics, 2013
Study aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of hatha yoga practices on the shaping of the anteroposterior (AP) spinal curvatures in students of the University of the Third Age, who participated in hatha yoga classes.

Enhanced Mechanical and Electrochemical Properties of Carbon Nanotube Fibers via Embedded Sucrose‐Derived Porous Carbon for Mechanoelectrochemical Energy Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sucrose‐derived porous carbon network (SPINE‐C) is formed within CNT fibers via FCCVD, bridging inter‐bundles of CNTs and increasing surface area through introduced microporosity. As a result, both mechanical and electrochemical properties are simultaneously enhanced, leading to a 2.8‐fold increase in the power density of a mechano‐electrochemical ...

A Comparative Study of Thoracic and Lumbar Curves between Persons with and without Antreior Knee Pain

open access: yesPhysical Treatments, 2013
Objective: Patellofemoral pain syndrome is a common cause of anterior knee pain .This condition may arise from abnormal muscular and biomechanical factors , that alter tracking of the patella within the femoral trachlear notch , contributing to increased

Biobased Bionic Spider Silk via Electrostatic Complexation for Simultaneously Harvesting Atmospheric Water and Triboelectric Energy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based bionic spider silk and spider web are first prepared using polyelectrolyte complexation technique for the simultaneous harvesting of water and triboelectric energy. The advantage of this process lies on entirely bio‐based materials, fully green water‐processable procedures, extremely high production rate (99.36%), excellent fog harvesting ...

Spin‐Dependent Generation of Surface‐Bound Radicals Toward Selective and Long‐Lasting Water Purification

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops a novel atomic engineering strategy to fine‐tune the spin state of α‐Fe2O3 catalysts toward a medium‐spin state, thereby modulating peroxymonosulfate activation and selectively yielding surface‐bound radicals. Compared with free radicals, surface‐bound radicals exhibit moderated oxidation potential, extended lifespan, surface ...

A Novel Sprayable Fibrinogen/Glycosaminoglycans/Collagen‐Based Bioink for Skin Wound Healing Applied by a Handheld Dual‐Head Airbrush

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐head airbrush‐based spraying device, combined with a fibrinogen bioink enriched with glycosaminoglycans and collagen, enables the delivery of biomaterials and cells to promote wound healing. This system demonstrates effective skin regeneration in vitro and in vivo, with comparable results to autografts.
