3D Soft Hydrogels Induce Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells “Deep” Quiescence

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Three‐dimensional soft hydrogels mimicking the bone marrow niche induce deep quiescence in human mesenchymal stem cells. Unlike 2D culture, 3D matrices halt proliferation, regulate cell‐cycle and quiescence markers, and downregulate mTORC1 signaling, preserving stem cell phenotype and therapeutic potential ex vivo.

Forebrain Origins of Glutamatergic Innervation to the Rat Paraventricular Nucleus of the Hypothalamus: Differential Inputs to the Anterior Versus Posterior Subregions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN) regulates numerous homeostatic systems and functions largely under the influence of forebrain inputs. Glutamate is a major neurotransmitter in forebrain, and glutamate neurosignaling in the PVN is known to ...

Soft Ionic and Electronic Triboelectric Nanogenerators: Toward Attachable and Implantable Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides an overview of triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG)–based biomedical applications by classifying studies into electronic and ionic systems across attachable and implantable platforms. It summarizes key material choices, device structures, and working mechanisms that characterize current TENG‐based research, and outlines six future ...

The Absence of the Leukotriene B Receptor BLT1 Attenuates Peripheral Inflammation and Spinal Nociceptive Processing Following Intraplantar Formalin Injury

open access: yesMolecular Pain, 2015
Background Leukotriene B 4 (LTB 4 ) is a potent lipid mediator of inflammation, and its biological effects are mediated primarily through the high affinity LTB 4 receptor BLT1.

Effects of guanidine on synaptic transmission in the spinal cord of the frog [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
The effects of guanidine on motoneurons of the isolated frog spinal cord were studied by adding the drug to the solution bathing the cord during intracellular recording. Guanidine (5·10–4 M) did not alter the membrane potential of motoneurons.

Anatomical and molecular properties of long descending propriospinal neurons in mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Long descending propriospinal neurons (LDPNs) are interneurons that form direct connections between cervical and lumbar spinal circuits. LDPNs are involved in interlimb coordination and are important mediators of functional recovery after spinal cord ...

Ultrasound-guided caudal epidural injection to treat symptoms of lumbar spinal stenosis: a retrospective study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Translational Myology
Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) occurs when bony, ligamentous, and synovial elements of the lower axial spine degenerate and overgrow, compressing neural and vascular elements in the spinal canal.
