Chiropractic spinal manipulative therapy versus physical therapist-led exercise and the risk of cauda equina syndrome in adults with lumbar disc herniation, stenosis, or radiculopathy. [PDF]
Abstract Background Cauda equina syndrome is a surgical emergency often caused by lumbar disc herniation. Spinal manipulative therapy is commonly used for lumbar spine disorders, but case reports have raised concerns it may precipitate cauda equina syndrome. One cohort study suggested no increased risk, although it did not focus on patients with lumbar

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Acute electromyographic responses of deep thoracic paraspinal muscles to spinal manual therapy interventions. An experimental, randomized cross-over study [PDF]
This single group, randomized, cross-over study explored whether manual therapy alters motor tone of deep thoracic back muscles by examining resting electromyographic activity (EMG) after 2 types of manual therapy and a sham control intervention.

The repair and regeneration of brain tissue faces both biological and technical challenges. Injectable bioscaffolds offer new opportunities to stimulate tissue regrowth in the brain by recruiting neural stem cells. Here, the translational issues are reviewed that need to be address to advance this promising new therapeutic approach from the bench to ...

Basis for spinal manipulative therapy: A physical therapist perspective [PDF]
Physical therapists internationally provide spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) to patients with musculoskeletal pain complaints. SMT has been a part of physical therapist practice since the profession's beginning. Early physical therapist clinical decision making for SMT was influenced by the approaches of osteopathic and orthopedic physicians at the ...

Neural cell–derived small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) are emerging as pivotal mediators in neurodegenerative diseases, exerting both pathogenic and therapeutic functions. This review synthesizes current evidence on how sEVs from distinct neural cell types regulate neurodegeneration, neuroprotection, biomarker discovery, and targeted drug delivery ...
