Actuation Strategies for Underwater Jet‐Propelled Soft Robots

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This review article examines jet‐propulsion mechanisms in underwater soft robotic systems, focusing exclusively on physically fabricated and experimentally validated robots. Covering research published from 2013 to 2025, this study classifies and evaluates jet‐propulsion robots based on their actuation mechanisms.

Experimental study on the lubrication characteristics of porous journal bearings with hydrodynamic shape forming at annular surface under sine-wave vibrated conditions (Examination into the shaft rotating behavior at the starting state by identifying the rotational modes with Frequency Spectrum Analysis of the time history waveform on shaft)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
This report describes the study on the lubrication characteristics of porous journal bearings, which were made with oil impregnated sintered materials having some hydrodynamic shapes, to apply them for a DC Spindle Motor’s bearing system. Herring Bone (I

Bridging the Late Antique Gap in Northwest Arabia: New Archaeological Evidence on the Occupation of Wādī al‐Qurā (al‐ʿUlā [AlUla], Saudi Arabia) Between the Third and Seventh Centuries CE

open access: yesArabian Archaeology and Epigraphy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In 2019, the Dadan Archaeological Project (CNRS/RCU/AFALULA) identified a Late Antique village 1 km south of ancient Dadan in the al‐ʿUlā valley (northwest Saudi Arabia). Three excavation seasons at this site (2021–2023) have uncovered a massive building constructed in the late third or early fourth cent.

The Late Agricultural Development of Central Arabian Oases—Archaeobotanical and Archaeozoological Studies of the al‐Kharj Oasis

open access: yesArabian Archaeology and Epigraphy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT While oasis settlements emerged during the Bronze Age in Eastern and Northern Arabia, the settlement process in Central Arabia was different. Excavations at al‐Yamāma—main ancient settlement of the al‐Kharj oasis (Riyadh Province, KSA)—suggest that the latter did not emerge before the second half of the first millennium BCE.

Between Gaps and Voids: An Archaeometrical Study of Degraded Fibers in a Sherd From the Cueva dos Chinches Muertas, Siltzul (Raxruha, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala)

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In 2019, excavations at the Cueva dos Chinches Muertas carried out by the Raxruha Viejo Project uncovered a small ceramic sherd distinguished by a stratified structure composed of multiple layers of textile imprints, both superficial and transversal.

PREDICTION OF ROTARY ACCURACY OF FRAME-TYPE COMBINED SPINDLE BASED ON FORM AND POSITION ERRORS

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2021
Frame-type combined spindles are widely used in precision products such as CNC rotary tables and aerospace flight simulators. Due to the multiple geometric errors in their component parts, the rotary precision of the frame-type combined spindle is ...

Experimental study on the lubrication characteristics of porous journal bearings with hydrodynamic shape forming at annular surface under sine-wave vibrated conditions (Examination into the shaft whirling behavior at pivot supported condition by measuring the time history waveform on shaft with parameter of vibrated Frequency changes)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2018
This report describes the study on the lubrication characteristics of porous journal bearings as a DC spindle motor's bearing system made with oil impregnated sintered materials having some hydrodynamic shapes. Herring Bone (I & II), Three Lobed

Magical Realist Hauntings in Children's Everyday Encounters With Death, or, How to Believe in Impossible Things

open access: yesChildren &Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Modern deaths have become reiterations. That is, despite exhibiting a seemingly high‐level of diversity in death's representations in everyday lives, death suffers from a particular onto‐epistemological poverty that prevents it from being imagined otherwise.

Updating the forelimb anatomy of the domestic cat (Felis catus, Felidae) based on evolutionary inferences of its muscles and nerves I: Shoulder and brachium

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
In this study, we provide a detailed description of the shoulder and brachium muscles and the brachial plexus of the domestic cat (Felis catus). We identified muscular variants (articularis humeri, coracobrachialis longus, biceps brachii caput breve), clarified the independence of the anconeus medialis muscle from the triceps brachii muscle, and ...

Spaceborne and spaceborn: Physiological aspects of pregnancy and birth during interplanetary flight

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Crewed interplanetary return missions that are on the planning horizon will take years, more than enough time for initiation and completion of a pregnancy. Pregnancy is viewed as a sequence of processes – fertilization, blastocyst formation, implantation, gastrulation, placentation, organogenesis, gross morphogenesis, birth and neonatal ...
