Novel Nanosized Spinel MnCoFeO4 for Low-Temperature Hydrocarbon Oxidation
The present paper reports on MnCoFeO4 spinels with peculiar composition and their catalytic behavior in the reactions of complete oxidation of hydrocarbons. The samples were synthesized by solution combustion method with sucrose and citric acid as fuels.

Natural evidence for garnet-spinel transition (GST) in the Earth's mantle
This study based on compiled world-wide garnet peridotite data confirms the GST in high P and T conditions, which was obtained from Al-free experimental system (MgO-Cr~2~O~3~-SiO~2~) by Klemme (2004). A new spinel-phase peridotite zone, garnet peridotite

Densification during hot-pressing of carbon nanotube–metal–magnesium aluminate spinel nanocomposites [PDF]
The densification by hot-pressing of ceramic–matrix composites containing a dispersion of carbon nanotubes (CNT), mostly single-walled, is studied for the first time.

Cordierite-spinel-quartz assemblages: A potential geobarometer [PDF]
The composition of (Mg-Zn-Fe+2)-aluminate-spinel coexisting with cordierite and quartz is potentially a sensitive geobarometer in rock types such as cordierite ‒ anthophyllite rocks which are not well suited to most other geobarometers.

Predicting spinel solid solutions using a random atom substitution method
Exploration of chemical composition and structural configuration space is the central problem in crystal structure prediction. Even in limiting structure space to a single structure type, many different compositions and configurations are possible.

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...
