MORPHOLOGICAL AND COMPOSITIONAL FEATURES OF CHROMIAN SPINEL FROM MANTLE ULTRAMAFIC ROCKS OF THE NURALI MASSIF (SOUTH URALS) [PDF]

open access: yesМинералогия, 2019
Accessory chromian spinels of lherzolites and dunites from a mantle section of the Nurali ophiolite massif are described in the paper. Lherzolites typically host anhedral chromian spinel grains associated with olivine, pyroxenes and plagioclase.

Spectroscopic Characteristics and Coloring Mechanisms of Different Colored Spinels from Myanmar

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
Spinel is a common gemstone that has attracted the attention of gemologists worldwide because of its high refractive index, rich colors and brilliant hues. Myanmar is an important source of spinel. The present paper provides a systematic characterization

Al-spinels in primitive arc volcanics

open access: yes, 1995
Al-rich spinels (100Cr/(Cr + Al) 50 wt%) are common in alpine peridotites, both terrestrial and lunar mafic and ultramafic cumulates, and in certain metamorphic rocks, but they are apparently rare in terrestrial volcanic rocks.

Quantifying structural disorder in spinels by X-ray diffractometry through constrained–restrained Rietveld refinements

open access: yes, 2023
Accurate determination of the structural disorder (i.e., cation misplacement, anionic and cationic vacancies, and reduced cations) of spinels is crucial to understanding the properties of this technologically attractive sub-family of ceramics, but it is ...

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

Geochemistry of spinels from xenoliths of mantle lherzolites (sverre Volcano, spitsbergen Archipelago)

open access: yesЗаписки Горного института, 2017
The paper presents the results of a study (LA-ICP-MS method) of spinel from the collection of mantle xenoliths of lherzolites (seven xenoliths) selected in quaternary alkaline basalts of the Sverre volcano, the Spitsbergen archipelago.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Synthesis, Stability and DC-electrical Conductivity of Vanadium and Chromium Dual Doped LiMn2O4 Spinals as Cathode Material for Use in Lithium Rechargeable Batteries

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2014
V5+ and Cr6+ double doped nano lithium manganese oxide spinels Li[VxCrxMn2-2X]O4, (x=0.00, 0.02, 0.05 %)] were synthesized by doping the pure spinel LiMn2O4 with vanadium and chromium ions as cathode materials for rechargeable batteries applications ...

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Structural Characterization and Magnetic Behavior Due to the Cationic Substitution of Lanthanides on Ferrite Nanoparticles

open access: yesNanomaterials
A new series of [Fe3−xLnx]O4 nanoparticles, with Ln = Gd; Dy; Lu and x = 0.05; 0.1; 0.15, was synthesized using the coprecipitation method. Analyses by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Rietveld refinement, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy ...
